& just like that it’s somehow fall… As sad as it is when summer ends, there’s something quite comforting about the fall. The routine, the crisp weather, and of course all things harvest season.

Swipe for some very simple & delicious pumpkin recipes!! I will caveat that this post is entirely me getting creative in the kitchen, so feel free to measure with your heart and not follow the exact ingredient measurements 🌞🍂🎃🧜‍♀️ by @forkontherun

Some recent September favorites! As much as I miss summer, September in the city is pretty great - people are here, the weather is still nice, & there’s lots going on always 🧜‍♀️🌊🍂🗽 by @forkontherun

Started writing these for my 12- and 9-year-old cousins as they start a new school year, but turns out they’re pretty good reminders for myself as well (and maybe you too) by @forkontherun

Block Island recap part two!!

1&2&3&4 @thecrackedmugbi I think some of the best coffee on island (certainly the most fun flavors!!) Located right on the harbor as well, meaning you get to enjoy your coffee with a gorgeous view of the boats (gorgeous even in the pouring rain). Also, their cinnamon roll was the best one I’ve had on island.

5 somehow not photographed once this year but @persephoneskitchen - had to pull out my first feature of Persephone’s from back in 2019 (although I’m fairly certain my love of this place started even before). Hands down my favorite breakfast spot on island. Maybe my favorite in the world. I swear the breakfast sandwiches are crafted with some sort of ocean magic that leave you feeling so happy and joyful. There’s no place like Persephone’s!

6 @bagelshopbi a staple spot in town for breakfast. Don’t sleep on the muffins!! I actually prefer their breakfast tortillas over the bagels but maybe that’s just because I’m bageled out from NYC.

7 sandwiches from @theatlanticbi: new grab & go sandwich spot which is great for lunch. The Greek salad was very simple but completely hit the spot!!

8&9 bread pudding from the farmers market. Bread pudding sneaky might be my favorite dessert, and this one was decadent.

10&11 @dicksfish this place opened in the last few years and has quickly grown to be one of my family’s favorite spots. Not joking, I think about this smoked bluefish dip year round. They also have grab & go sushi that might be the best on the island… up for debate but this place rocks.

& the rest… morning coffee, doing @melissawoodhealth Pilates and strength in the sun, drying my sweat running clothes outside, scenic sunrise runs, painting projects, painting rocks (all part of camp fork on the run), and so much love. Will take me another 5-10 business days to adjust back to NYC 🙃🌊🧜‍♀️ by @forkontherun

Block Island recap part 1!!

1&2&3&4&5&6&7&8 @theatlanticbi both for drinks and dinner, this spot should not be slept on!! The meal was one of the best I’ve had all year. Farm-to-table, bursting with real flavor, and packed with lots of nutrients from the whole, unprocessed foods – NYC takeout could never. Also a great spot to just grab a drink (or a few) - views are unparalleled. I did spill most of my reposado tequila espresso martini over my white pants, but the bit I did have was a velvety dream.

9&10&11&12 @springhousehotel because no trip to block island would be complete without at least one visit here! Similar vibes to the Atlantic - great to come for a meal or just a drink.

13&14&15&16&17&18 this post could be a love letter to @theoar_bi - we came here I think five times in ten days. Nothing fancy but can’t beat the views, vibes, or sushi.

19&20 just some laughs from around the island that are also quite good reminders 😁🌊🧜‍♀️ by @forkontherun

Recipes to make this August!! Cucumber mezcal margaritas, blueberry corn muffins, watermelon feta salad, single serve berry cobbler, & simple gazpacho. Cucumber mezcal margarita recipe is below & all others on my substack (forkontherun.substack.com)🌞🥒🧜‍♀️🍋‍🟩🫐✨

CUCUMBER MARGARITAS
- To infuse the mezcal… Add 200ml of mezcal (or tequila) & a large sliced cucumber into a pitcher of your choice. Store in the fridge for 24-48 hours (the longer you let it infuse, the stronger the flavor!!)
- For each margarita… Add 2 shots of the infused mezcal, 2 tbsp fresh lime juice, 1 tbsp Cointreau or orange juice, and some of the cucumbers to a cocktail shaker (adding the cucumbers to the shaker isn’t needed but will amplify the flavor). Shake well for ~30 seconds, then pour into your favorite glass & enjoy!!

June recap & favorites!! Lots of family, fun, sun, & love. Ready for some salt water, ocean minerals, fresh berries, and R&R in July 🍣🥑🌊🍓🫐🧜‍♀️✨

TAKEOUT
@tsukigreenwich is anything better than takeout sushi, a long weekend in June, and your first niece sleeping peacefully in the room over?

@soma.salads nothing new but doesn’t get better. I get the sesame crunch with tofu instead of chicken.

Random: at-home hibachi for my cousin’s 12th birthday! Sodium bomb but good fun.

RESTAURANTS
@domodomonyc spicy toro roll, docucumber cocktail, cauliflower, edamame, spicy tuna cones - delish.

@minettatavernny a classic spot with a solid burger. Don’t need to go back here because it’s not really my type of food but worth trying at least once. And their “farmacia” cocktail is fantastic (tequila, ginger, honey, etc.)

@kikis_nyc don’t read any recent news on this place/their finances, just go. So yum, so authentic, so affordable. Bread was just okay but everything else was delish - especially the octopus!!

@siren_og if I’m going to leave the city it better be for a good reason, and this spot is one of them! Assuming my family is there too lol. I got the chicken kebabs + Greek salad as my entree and was sooo content.

COCKTAILS
@barbellynyc fun fact saw Madeline Argy here. Get a table outside if you can, such great vibes when it’s nice outside.

@tendegreesbar go on Friday around 7pm for two-for-one drinks up until 8pm. Spicy skinny margarita and blood orange margarita - no notes or complaints!

@earinnbar: no notes needed. Pure vibes.

@themanner rooftop in Soho with great views. Good spot especially if someone is visiting the city.

@armada.nyc watched one of the Knicks games here. Along with a few celebrities which was a very NYC moment!

COFFEES
@interludenyc vanilla almond milk latte is fabulous and surprisingly just as good the next day (when poured over ice).

@wholefoods $3 almond milk macchiato. Maybe the only reasonably priced thing in this entire city.

@raphsbakery very cute coffee shop in the burbs. The coffees come with a little pastry on top - buy additional of these pastries because they are that delectable ✨ by @forkontherun

Spring roll summer!! Your sign to buy the rice paper rolls and stuff as your heart desires 🫶🏻🌱🥑🍌🍶

Can confirm that the at-home mochi (rice paper rolls stuffed with yogurt & other goodies, then frozen for 30-45 minutes) are excellent. Make sure to not freeze for more than a few hours though - the rice paper will get too solid to comfortably bite into. Also for these, I sprinkled the rolls with cacao powder so they weren’t as sticky and easier to handle - powdered sugar or flour would also work.

I also tried making a “breakfast wrap” of sorts with scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, and Japanese sweet potatoes - absolutely fire. Would have been even better with avocado I just didn’t have any.

These rolls are certainly not my most aesthetic creations, but boy were they delicious and fun to make. Anyways! Consider this your sign to put down your phone and get creative!! by @forkontherun
