Who’s afraid of Pink, Magenta and Rose?
Farbe als politisches Instrument
Vortrag von Barbara Glasner
Kunsthalle Nürnberg @kunsthallenuernberg
Dienstag, 22.9.2026, 18.00 Uhr

Who’s Afraid of Pink, Magenta, and Rose?
Color as a Political Instrument
Lecture by Barbara Glasner
Kunsthalle Nünberg @kunsthallenuernberg
Tuesday, September 22, 2026, 6:00 PM

This lecture explores the cultural history of a colour, examining the interplay between protest, consumerism, and social attribution. Considered the oldest colour in the world, pink retains immense symbolic power to this day: pink smoke, pink masks, and pink symbols of protest stand for visibility and resistance. Once a colour associated with male power and later a symbol of female gender roles, pink has been politically reclaimed by feminist and queer movements. Spanning the realms of Barbie, pop culture, and activism, it is clear that pink is polarizing. The colour represents both cliché and emancipation, commerce and protest—making it a potent political instrument to this day.

What if design’s most interesting ideas don’t come from one discipline, but from the space between two?

That question became the foundation of a shared practice, and eventually, a book. We’re excited to welcome Corinna Gratzl & Julia Klass, Co-Founders of In Search Of, to FORM / FUTURE!

Corinna and Julia met during their Master’s in Communication Design at Lake Constance. Corinna is trained as an interior architect with experience in New York and Berlin, Julia is shaped by media management, PR and corporate communications. Together, they founded In Search Of, a practice behind spatial installations, participatory interventions, and cross-disciplinary projects, most recently curating the WDC Campus for World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026.

Their talk builds on their book Dialog Beyond Disciplines, tracing the roots and approaches shaping cross-disciplinary practice today. They argue that design’s answer to societal challenges isn’t found in isolated expertise. It’s found in dialog beyond disciplines.

Catch the full talk on 10 September 2026 at Tempelhof Airport. Get your ticket via the link in bio.

Die Schönsten Deutschen Bücher 2026

Druck/Bindung: @dza.druck

OUT NOW & LONGLISTED @stiftungbuchkunst

The publication „Dialog Beyond Disciplines“ moves between disciplines – where boundaries blur, perspectives shift, and new ways of thinking about design emerge through exchange. As part of a joint project, the two authors and designers Corinna Gratzl and Julia Klass visited renowned design studios and institutions in Italy, the Netherlands, France, and Germany.

There, they interviewed and photographed designers and experts, who work across disciplines at the intersection of architecture, scenography, product design, craftsmanship, graphic design, art, and science, in their working environments. A selection of these interviews, in situ photographs, and object scans are brought together in the publication. An additional glossary provides a general overview of open-disciplinary working methods. Design and architecture journalist Jasmin Jouhar was invited to conduct an introductory foreword interview with the two authors.

Power of Colour
