This week, we obtained a highly anticipated building permit for a single-family home in Roscoe Village. Originally envisioning a traditional gabled form, the design evolved into a restrained, flat-roofed masonry residence that draws from Chicago’s culture of brick building without imitating it. A light-toned modern brick façade and carefully proportioned openings give the house a quiet confidence, while a complementary perforated brick weave wall provides privacy and softens the street edge.
