🇬🇧✨ Back in Devon, Back to Forró ✨

Tonight was my first class back after nearly 7 weeks in Brazil, and what a welcome it was 💛 A room full of good energy, smiles, and the joy of dancing together, it reminded me why all the behind-the-scenes work is worth it.

As a teacher and organiser, there are always tasks that aren’t glamorous, but when I walk into a class filled with positivity like tonight, it pays off every single effort 🙏

A huge thank you to @felipeabreuessencia for holding the space and teaching Forró Devon while I was away, and to all of our amazing students, your trust and presence keep this community alive. Without you, none of this would happen.

There’s so much more to come this autumn and winter… so keep watching this space! 🍂💃

🇧🇷✨ De volta a Devon, de volta ao Forró ✨

Hoje foi minha primeira aula de volta depois de quase 7 semanas no Brasil, e que recepção maravilhosa 💛 Uma sala cheia de boa energia, sorrisos e a alegria de dançar juntos, me lembrou por que todo o trabalho nos bastidores vale a pena.

Como professora e organizadora, sempre há tarefas que não são glamorosas, mas quando entro em uma aula cheia de positividade como a de hoje, todo esforço é recompensado 🙏

Um enorme agradecimento ao @felipe por segurar o espaço e ensinar o Forró Devon enquanto eu estava fora, e a todos os nossos incríveis alunos – a confiança e presença de vocês mantêm essa comunidade viva. Sem vocês, nada disso aconteceria.

One of my favourite dancers in Itaúnas, @vhugoac 💃✨
With him, I found true freedom of movement. He welcomed my responses to his lead with openness, even when they didn’t follow the usual patterns. I felt so much playfulness and musicality in his dance – a real joy to share the floor with him.

Gratidão imensa, Nely 🤍✨

Nely e eu nos conhecemos no curso Capacitação de Professores de Forró, facilitado por Felipe Abreu @felipeabreuessencia e fundamentado no Método Essência, e nesta semana finalmente nos encontramos pessoalmente em Salvador de Bahia. Um encontro que reafirma o poder da comunidade.

Sou muito grata pela rede de professores construída por Felipe e pela generosidade da Nely ao me convidar para vivenciar suas aulas. No Colectivo Gira Sol @coletivogira_sol , encontrei muito mais do que uma aula de dança: um espaço seguro, acolhedor, onde se constrói apoio, pertencimento e troca. Quase como uma segunda família.

As aulas da Nely não se baseiam em sequências rígidas, mas na curiosidade por cada aluno, suas vivências e reflexões sobre o que o Forró desperta em cada um. Um trabalho sensível que torna o Forró acessível, promovendo consciência corporal, presença, autopercepção e conexão com o outro. Algo cada vez mais essencial em tempos tão digitais.

O convite à reflexão sobre o próprio processo de aprendizagem, após a prática, foi algo que me tocou profundamente e dialoga muito com minha formação em dança e terapia do movimento.

This was also Filipe and Sarah’s first public demo since the birth of their beautiful baby (who also joined the class!) just a few months ago 💛

Forró is a beautiful, joyful partner dance from Northeast Brazil. Imagine the intimacy of Argentine tango combined with the uplifting energy of Brazilian rhythms.

It’s danced to lively Forró music, played on accordion, zabumba (Brazilian drum), and triangle Music that will make you want to move!

🕺 The 3-Part Class Structure:

1️⃣ Part One – Separate Learning

* Beginners learn the fundamentals step by step with Agua García (no partner or experience needed).

* Experienced dancers dive deeper into musicality, technique, and fun new moves with Felipe Abreu.

2️⃣ Part Two – Dancing Together

Everyone comes together for a combined class. Perfect for building confidence, connection, and community!

3️⃣ Part Three – Free Practice

Your chance to dance with everyone, try out what you’ve learned, and get tips from Felipe & Agua in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

✨ Obrigada, Brasil. Que dança linda tivemos! ✨

Esse verão foi como uma grande música de forró. O sol virou zabumba ☀️, o mar tocou a sanfona 🌊 e cada abraço foi o triângulo batendo no compasso do meu coração 💛.

De volta ao Reino Unido, sinto falta de tudo. Do calor do ar, do calor das pessoas e do forró irresistível que me chamava para dançar noite após noite.

Sou grata por cada sorriso, cada dança, cada alma que encontrei pelo caminho. Vocês transformaram minha viagem em pura poesia.
E um agradecimento especial à Regianne Angelo @reh_angel_ pela dança mágica que compartilhamos no Forró do Cantinho @forrodocantinho no Rio de Janeiro. Foi uma daquelas danças que a gente guarda como uma música favorita 🎶💃.

This summer felt like one big forró song. The sun was the zabumba ☀️, the sea played the accordion 🌊, and every hug was a triangle beat keeping my heart in rhythm 💛.

Back in the UK, I miss it all. The warmth of the air, the warmth of the people, and the irresistible forró that pulled me into its embrace night after night.

Grateful for every smile, every dance, every soul I met along the way. You turned my trip into pure poetry.
And a special thanks to Regianne Angelo @reh_angel_ for our magical dance at Forró do Cantinho in Rio de Janeiro. It was one of those dances you carry with you like a favourite song 🎶💃.
