People really underestimate what betrayal does to the human nervous system.⁣
⁣
This is not just someone “being upset” or “needing to get over it.”⁣
⁣
When someone discovers lies, secrecy, hidden behaviors, or a double life inside their relationship, the brain and body can respond as if safety itself has been shattered. That is why so many betrayed partners experience hypervigilance, panic, obsessive thoughts, sleep disruption, emotional flooding, numbness, anxiety, and a constant feeling of being on edge.⁣
⁣
Betrayal is not only emotionally painful. For many people, it becomes psychologically and physiologically traumatic.⁣
⁣
Healing from that takes far more than saying “sorry” and moving on. It requires honesty, transparency, emotional safety, consistency, accountability, and a partner willing to truly understand the depth of the damage caused. by @forthefew__

Finding out your partner watches porn can be deeply painful. Finding out they’ve been hiding it while looking you in the eyes, telling you they love you, and carrying on like everything is fine can leave you questioning the entire relationship.

Now the memories look different. The moments you felt something was off come back. Times you accepted an explanation become times you wonder whether you were being lied to. It’s hard to feel close to someone when you’re unsure how much of them you actually know.

If you’ve been hiding this, understand what you’re asking when you want her to move forward because you stopped. She’s still trying to make sense of the life she thought you were sharing. Rebuilding trust means being honest without waiting to get caught, answering hard questions, and following through even when she’s still hurting.

She deserves to know who she’s sharing her life with. That truth shouldnt be something she has to keep uncovering. by @forthefew__

When someone comes to me after seeing a therapist who defended adult content and dismissed the betrayal they experienced, they’ve often been left questioning whether they even have a right to be hurt. They went looking for support and ended up having to defend their pain to the person they trusted to help.

If a therapist uses “I’m sex positive” or “adult content is healthy” to excuse your partner’s behavior, minimize the lying, or convince you that your boundaries are the problem, that therapist is failing you. Their personal beliefs are getting in the way of addressing what actually happened in your relationship.

A therapist working with betrayal needs to be able to face that harm and hold the person responsible accountable. If they can’t do that because they’re too invested in defending the behavior, they shouldn’t be doing this work with couples.

You don’t have to keep paying someone to make you question your right to honesty and respect. If your pain keeps getting minimized and the pressure is on you to become more accepting, you’re allowed to leave and find someone who can actually support repair. by @forthefew__

Keeping it a secret is part of what keeps you trapped. As long as nobody knows, there’s nobody asking questions, challenging your excuses, or seeing the distance between who you say you are and what you keep choosing behind closed doors.

Maybe you tell yourself you’re protecting her feelings. That you’ll stop on your own and she’ll never have to know. But if you’ve made that promise to yourself over and over while continuing to hide it, you have to get honest about what that secrecy is actually protecting.

Meanwhile, she’s building a relationship with you based on what she believes is true. She may feel the distance, notice changes in your intimacy, or question herself without knowing what’s happening. When she asks and you deny it, you’re giving her another reason to doubt her own judgment.

And when the truth comes out, the pain goes beyond what you watched. It’s realizing you looked her in the eyes, reassured her, and let her keep trusting a story you knew wasnt true. Every new piece she discovers makes it harder to believe the next thing you say.

If you want out of this cycle, honesty has to become part of your recovery. Own your choices without blaming her, reach for support, and follow through when the conversation is over. You cant rebuild trust while still deciding which parts of the truth she gets to have. by @forthefew__

Man, think about the effort that goes into keeping this habit in your life. Finding time for it, hiding it, explaining it away. What could happen if that effort went toward understanding yourself, getting support, and following through on the changes you keep saying you want?

Recovery takes more than feeling bad after you do it. It means getting honest about what keeps bringing you back and learning how to handle those moments differently. Being willing to hear her pain without making her carry yours too.

There’s a lot worth putting your energy into here. Your own self respect, the connection between you and partner, being able to enjoy your life without something always being hidden. Start putting real effort toward that. Give yourself a chance to experience what life and love can feel like when you’re fully there for it. by @forthefew__

I feel deeply for the women who want a relationship without p*** and keep being made to feel like they’re asking for too much. Wanting a partner whose values align with yours shouldnt mean having to prepare for an argument, a lie, or another promise that falls apart.

There’s a real frustration in knowing that holding this boundary can leave you with fewer options. Some women start questioning themselves. Others accept something that hurts them because they’re scared this is what every relationship is going to look like. I hate that so many feel pushed into that decision.

As men, we have to be willing to look at what we’re asking someone to accept just because we’ve gotten comfortable with it. “Everyone does it” doesnt address her hurt, and calling her insecure doesnt give us a free pass to avoid looking at ourselves.

To the woman who wants this, you dont have to talk yourself out of something that matters deeply to you just to make a relationship work. And to the men who want to be different, follow through. Be honest about where you are, take responsibility for your choices, and become someone whose actions give her a reason to trust. by @forthefew__

There are women who have started to believe that finding a man who doesnt watch porn is asking for too much. They’ve been told it’s normal, that every guy does it, that they’re insecure for wanting something different. Imagine being told to lower your standards around something that deeply hurts you just because so many men have accepted it.

Brother, you get to choose what kind of partner you become. When porn has been part of your life for years, changing that takes real work. It means getting honest about what you’re chasing, what you’re escaping, and what it’s costing the relationship you say you want.

Being different goes deeper than quitting. It’s being honest when hiding would be easier. Learning to stay present through discomfort. Becoming someone whose actions give her a reason to trust your words, even when nobody is watching.

There are women looking for that kind of love and starting to lose hope that it exists. Be willing to do the work to build it. That’s what the shirt means. by @forthefew__

A lot of men wonder why their partner doesnt seem interested in sex anymore, but they’re only looking at what happens in the bedroom.

What happens the rest of the day? Does she feel close to you? Can she bring up something that hurts without you getting defensive? Do you touch her just to be close, or does every bit of affection feel like it’s leading somewhere?

Porn lets you skip all of that. You get sexual stimulation without having to be present with another person. But your partner is a person. She wants to feel wanted, heard, and safe with you. When that connection has been missing for months or years, you cant expect her to suddenly open up because you’re ready for sex.

If you want intimacy back, start caring about how she feels with you when sex isnt on the table. by @forthefew__

She might start wondering if it’s her…If she’s asking for too much by wanting her own partner to look at her with desire.

Meanwhile, he’s pouring that part of himself into a screen and bringing whatever’s left back to the relationship.

She can feel the difference. In the way he looks at her. The way he touches her. The way he’s physically beside her but somewhere else in his head.

Men, if the woman you love feels unwanted while you’re still seeking out other women on your phone, take that seriously. This is bigger than what happens when you’re alone. It follows you into the room with her.

Put it down. Get honest about what it’s costing you. And become a man whose desire makes his woman feel chosen again. by @forthefew__

If his adult content use hurts you, you dont need to be talked out of that feeling. You dont need to become the “cool girl” who pretends she’s fine with it while it eats away at her.

He can call it normal. The internet can call it normal. Neither gets to decide what belongs in your relationship.

You know how it feels when something is breaking your trust. Stop apologizing for knowing. Stand by yourself, even when someone you love wishes you wouldnt. by @forthefew__

You can spend thousands on a men’s retreat, listen to every podcast, and come home with a notebook full of breakthroughs. But if you go right back to adult content and keep telling yourself it’s harmless, how much are you really willing to change?

A powerful weekend can show you the man you want to become. The harder part happens when you’re alone, nobody’s watching, and you have to choose whether to keep feeding the habit you’ve been defending. by @forthefew__
