JURORS ANNOUNCED - DEADLINE EXTENDED - A MAJOR NATIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ARTISTS

Fort Works Art and Gallery of Dreams are honored to announce Michael De Luca and Angelique De Luca as jurors for ๐‘‡โ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘†๐‘–๐‘™๐‘’๐‘›๐‘ก ๐ถ๐‘ข๐‘ก, a national exhibition exploring the intersection of contemporary visual art and cinema. The exhibition will run in conjunction with the Lone Star Film Festival, with Gallery of Dreams hosting four nights of festival panel programming in November.

Michael De Luca is Co-Chair and CEO of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group and a three-time Academy Award-nominated producer whose credits include ๐‘‡โ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘†๐‘œ๐‘๐‘–๐‘Ž๐‘™ ๐‘๐‘’๐‘ก๐‘ค๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘˜, ๐‘€๐‘œ๐‘›๐‘’๐‘ฆ๐‘๐‘Ž๐‘™๐‘™ and ๐ถ๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘ก๐‘Ž๐‘–๐‘› ๐‘ƒโ„Ž๐‘–๐‘™๐‘™๐‘–๐‘๐‘ . Under his leadership, Warner Bros.โ€™ 2026 slate earned 11 Academy Awardsโ€”six for Best Picture winner ๐‘‚๐‘›๐‘’ ๐ต๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘ก๐‘™๐‘’ ๐ด๐‘“๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘Ÿ ๐ด๐‘›๐‘œ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘Ÿ, four for the record-breaking ๐‘†๐‘–๐‘›๐‘›๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘  and one for ๐‘Š๐‘’๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘œ๐‘›๐‘ .

Their understanding of how images communicate character, atmosphere, emotion and narrative will inform their personal review of the submitted work.

Fort Works Art had a little extra glamour on Sunday night. โœจ

โ€œThe Marilyn Effectโ€ brought fashion into the gallery alongside Lawrence Schillerโ€™s photographs of Marilyn Monroe, and from the moment we arrived, the room had a mood of its own: low lighting, beautiful drinks from La Pulga, guests dressed for the occasion, and a runway full of surprises.

Mayor Mattie Parker and musician Abraham Alexander were among the familiar faces who walked. One of the sweetest moments came at the end, when models brought out puppies from Saving Hope Animal Rescue and handed them to guests in the audience.

I loved seeing Fort Worthโ€™s creative community show up for an evening that felt both glamorous and generous. Ticket proceeds benefited Gallery of Dreams, while the eveningโ€™s puppy adoption supported Saving Hope. Thank you to Fort Works Art and Wild Silks for a lovely Sunday night.

There are artists you encounter whose trajectory feels clear almost immediately. Wes Coke @wescokedesigns is one of them.

Trained in bronze sculpture at the University of North Texas, Wes came to oil painting in 2020, bringing with him an understanding of the figure built first in three dimensions. In a remarkably short period of time, he has developed a visual language that feels distinctly his own.

In Inside a Thought, the figure is almost entirely consumed by pattern. Stripes move from background to body until the distinction between the two begins to disappear. The face is completely withheld. What should be visually loud becomes strangely quiet.

There is tension in that contradiction, and throughout this body of work. Wes uses pattern, color and the human figure to create images that feel immediately accessible, but become less certain the longer you spend with them.

That restraint is one of the things that first drew you to his work. He doesnโ€™t resolve the image for you. He trusts the viewer enough to leave something unanswered.

Wes is still at the beginning of his career as a painter, and we believe we are watching an important artist find his voice in real time.

Fort Works Art is proud to present Wes Coke: Inside a Thought, opening September 19 for Fort Worth Fall Gallery Night.

Jay Wilkinson is opening up a conversation about isolation and loneliness and the contradictions that exist within them.

Can you be vibrant and lonely? Can you move at subway speeds while sitting in stillness? Wilkinsonโ€™s work explores the space between these opposing experiences, inviting us to consider how movement and connection can coexist and interact with isolation.

To hear more and see this work in person, join us for the opening of Crosscurrents | Daniel Blagg and Jay Wilkinson during FWADA Fall Gallery Night.

FORT WORKS ART ENTERS ITS NEXT DECADE WITH A NEW LEADERSHIP TEAM AND A BOLD NEW MODEL FOR FORT WORTH

After ten years of building an independent cultural force, Fort Works Art expands its leadership, national programming and partnership with Gallery of Dreams. @gallery_of_dreams_fw

Founder Lauren Saba @laurensabaart built the gallery largely outside the conventions of the traditional gallery world, and that independence has increasingly become one of its greatest assets.

Fort Works Art is now undertaking the most significant expansion in its history, introducing a new leadership team and developing a national program of exhibitions, visiting galleries, artists and cultural collaborations designed not simply to broaden the galleryโ€™s reach, but to change the role an independent arts organization can play in Fort Worth. The idea is both ambitious and surprisingly simple: create cultural experiences important enough that people travel to Fort Worth specifically to see them. For this, Saba has recruited one of the most consequential museum leaders in the cityโ€™s recent history to help build it.

Andrew J. Walker, Ph.D., @awalkermo who served for fourteen years as Executive Director of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, joins Fort Works Art as Chief Curatorial and Strategic Executive, helping shape the galleryโ€™s direction, national programming and long-term strategy. Walkerโ€™s move represents a unique convergence of two very different corners of the art world.

The expanded leadership team also includes Amy Rasor, @amy_rasor Director of Growth and Impact who has over 30 years of experience in the non-profit sector and a deep understanding and involvement in the arts in Fort Worth.

Jordyn Reese @jordyn.reesee will continue to bring the exceptional level of skill and care that has made her integral to Fort Works Art as the Gallery Manager.

What emerges is not quite a gallery, not quite an institution and certainly not an art fair. That may be its advantage. For years, Fort Worth collectors have traveled elsewhere to encounter the broader art world. Fort Works Art is betting that some of the traffic can run the other direction. taken in Fort Works Art by @fortworksart

Artist Jay Wilkinson @jaywilkinsonart is one of the most beloved and talented artists in our @cityoffortworth . As a painter, his technique is exceptional, but so are the ideas and lived experiences behind the work. Through deeply personal paintings, Jay invites us into his world. A world shaped by creativity, passion, and a powerful ability to be fully present.

Jay began as both a sculptor and painter, and in 2014 he formed the collective Bobby on Drums with artists Jeremy Joel @bens_goldteeth and Brandon Pederson @brothersisterdesign . He is also a co-founder of Art Tooth @arttooth and the founder of Dang Good Candy @dang_good_candy , the gallery he ran from 2021โ€“23, where he gave so many artists their first platform in our city.

If you drive around Fort Worth and Dallas, youโ€™ll find Jayโ€™s murals everywhere, including in the new Dallas development by @m2gventures under the direction of @katiepaintbrush . His public installations and artwork are also woven throughout our own downtown, the Near Southside @nearsouthside , and other pockets of our community.

Jay has shown with Fort Works Art for the last decade, both locally and at @scopeartshow during Art Basel Miami.

His support of this gallery has been unparalleled.

This fall he will be joining the incredible artist Daniel Blagg @danielblaggart in a 2-person exhibition on Gallery Night at Artspace 111 @artspace111 .

He continues to amaze us, including with this painting from our exhibition, TEN, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the gallery. This painting honors his painting partner and one of his closest friends, the late Jeremy Joel.

Come celebrate with our community, our local galleries and museums, and Jay on September 19th for @ftworthartdealers Spring Gallery Night. taken in Fort Works Art by @fortworksart

OPEN CALL JURIED OPPORTUNITY- Fort Works Art and Gallery of Dreams Presents: The Silent Cut ๐ŸŽž๏ธ

Presented alongside the run of the Lonestar Film Festival @lonestarfilmfest

๐Ÿšจ๐ŸšจAPPLICATION DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 19, 2026

A cut in a film is a break, but itโ€™s also where something clicks, where meaning shifts, and where a story starts to take place. As if you donโ€™t need an explanation in the piece, art should be able to tell a story without the use of dialogue.

This is a call for work that feels cinematic.
Images that feel like stills from a larger narrative, photo series, or works that encapsulate symbols of film.
Scenes, fragments, sequences.
Moments that hold tension,
Work that suggests a story without giving it away.

The Silent Cut centers around 2-Dimensional works that feel like fragments of a larger narrative. Submissions may be staged or documentary, sequential or singular, experimental or character-driven.

GRAPHIC DETAILS: Lawrence Schiller, โ€œPaul Newman and Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,โ€ Durango, MX, 1968
