@fortworksart is bringing the raw energy of punk to Fort Worth with @katesimon: Anger Is an Energy, an exhibition of photographs by one of the photographers who was there before punk had a name.

Opening October 25, 5–8 PM, this exhibition brings together Kate Simon’s photographs from the streets, clubs, and inner circles of a cultural movement that changed music, fashion, photography, and everything around it. Simon didn’t photograph punk from the outside. She was there, camera in hand, as artists like @the_clash, @sexpistols @thisispattismith @debbieharrydaily @iggypopofficial and @siouxsiehq and the Banshees, were becoming the people who would define an era.

I honestly can’t believe where I am today. My piece ‘The Bridge Between Us’ has been selected for The Silent Cut Exhibition. An exhibition juried by Michael, the CEO of Warner Bros and Angelique De Luca CEO of Four Falling Stars Productions and Chair of The Lone Star Film Festival’s Board of Directors.

This whole experience is nothing if not humbling. Right now the feeling of humility and gratitude surpasses even the excitement I’m feeling. I can’t believe God loves me, and that He loves me enough to have made me an artist.

The journey here has not been a straight path. In 2021 I didn’t own a camera. Photography had been a deep seated dream I felt in my soul but it was something I thought I could never be. I was pushing carts through the Costco parking lot and driving uber after my shifts to make ends meet. Prior to that I’d been in the Marines, waited tables at Red Lobster, had a season building log cabins, teaching special education and worked as a security guard sitting alone in a guard shack watching Dexter on my phone through the dead of night. I’m grateful for every experience that has shaped me into the man I am today. I’m nothing special but I am so grateful to be where I am in my career today. I hope my journey inspires others who feel their dreams have evaded them. It’s not too late and you may be cut from artist cloth.

The Marilyn Effect Fashion Show

Organized by Wild Silks’ Christi Braswell and Fort Works Art’s Lauren Saba, the runway show marked the 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s birth, bringing a star-studded lineup of local personalities to the runway — including Mayor Mattie Parker, Oscar nominee Abraham Alexander, Bowie House’s Treasure Maddox Hannah, and stylist Bonnie Smith.

Adoptable pups from Saving Hope Rescue joined the models, helping shine a spotlight on the rescue’s mission while supporting Gallery of Dreams.

We’re so grateful to have been included in the Fort Works Art Fashion Show! ❤️

A very special thank you to @mayormattieparker for spending time with our puppies and her support for Saving Hope! As a previous Saving Hope adopter, having her there and interacting with our dogs made the evening extra special.

It was also such a great experience for our puppies. Socialization is so important, and being around new people, sounds, places, and experiences helps them build confidence and learn how to navigate the world.

Special thank you to @wildsilksfw and @fortworksart for hosting us, and to @papercityfortworth, @gallery_of_dreams_fw, @jolatham, @mlleddys, @laurensabaart and all others who made this such a fun and memorable night for these sweet, innocent puppies! ❤️

Thank you, Wild Silks, for having me for such a special evening celebrating The Marilyn Effect. Fort Works Art was the perfect backdrop, bringing art and fashion together while celebrating the creative spirit of Fort Worth.

Fort Works Art had a little extra glamour on Sunday night. ✨

“The Marilyn Effect” brought fashion into the gallery alongside Lawrence Schiller’s photographs of Marilyn Monroe, and from the moment we arrived, the room had a mood of its own: low lighting, beautiful drinks from La Pulga, guests dressed for the occasion, and a runway full of surprises.

Mayor Mattie Parker and musician Abraham Alexander were among the familiar faces who walked. One of the sweetest moments came at the end, when models brought out puppies from Saving Hope Animal Rescue and handed them to guests in the audience.

I loved seeing Fort Worth’s creative community show up for an evening that felt both glamorous and generous. Ticket proceeds benefited Gallery of Dreams, while the evening’s puppy adoption supported Saving Hope. Thank you to Fort Works Art and Wild Silks for a lovely Sunday night.

The Marilyn Effect” is a fashion and art experience inspired by celebrated photographer Lawrence Schiller’s photographs of Marilyn Monroe. The September 27 event blends a runway show with a gallery night, exploring the connections between fashion, celebrity, personal style, and identity. The evening features looks from M.L. Leddy’s, Forty Five Ten, Wild Silks styling, a preview of Collected by Christi, and “Threads of Us,” an interactive artwork created by guests. Attendees can also enjoy cocktails, champagne, light bites, shopping, photography, and opportunities to meet participating designers and creative partners.

A meaningful afternoon of conversation, connection, and inspiration. We were honored to gather at Fort Works Art for Legacy by Design, the second event in our More Than a Matriarch series. Thank you to our panelists, Jaime Lokey, Elizabeth Hester, and Heidi Angel, and our moderator, Caroline Samis, for sharing their perspectives and guiding such a thoughtful conversation on creating a legacy with intention.

Got the chance to check out C3 at @dallasmuseumart and catch artist talks with @hollowayfineart and @artistjbell. We also stopped by @fortworksart to see @wescokedesigns solo exhibition and came across another dope artist, @kerriasm. Always good to get out, experience some great work, and connect with other artists doing their thing!
