Behold! It is finished! Thank you Jenna and @transitcycles for helping to make this #dreambike

I wanted something built for the longhaul that rides smoothly over bumpy southern AZ roads and would feel good on some off road segments here and there. I didn’t want to have to worry about recharging batteries and it needed to be able to haul my binoculars, a book, and a change of clothes. I wanted to be able to ride fast and be comfortable.

Shoutout to @ritcheylogic for taking care of me and making such a high quality and good looking frame. It’s got their Venturemax bars and seatpost as well 👌

No, I did not forget to cut the steerer tube in early pics. I wanted to have Kurt (@fitworkscyclingsupport) take a look at my position first!

This is my first bike with a dynamo system! It’s got the @sonnabendynamo hub along with the @sinewavecycles lights.

Went with the @reneherse rack, bag and 38mm slick tires.

Can’t go wrong with the @rideshimano mechanical 105 drivetrain.

Notice how well those @velocityusa Aero rims match the 105 silver crankset so well? That worked out better than I could have imagined!

Loving these @growtac mechanical disc brakes so far 🤤

Finished it off with the @brooksengland saddle and bar tape.

Another Montana trip in the books. This was a particularly good one. Lots of good times with friends. Did a hard trail running race, got in the mountains, floated the stone. Next year we’re going to have to make this a multi-week trip at least 😉 taken in Emigrant Peak by @forwardmovement2222

@ross_ssors bday in NYC
Work in NYC, Philly, and Delaware
Drinks at Hotel DuPont in Wilmington
Watched the sixers get destroyed but the Knicks
Ran a ridge in Durango CO
Powder was shred with the McGee brothers around Durango
Good times at the ski house with @livycr and the mini McGees (turns out I get way more attention at the grocery store when I’m accompanied by a 2 year old)
Hiked some ridgeline to the promised land of powder
And what would a trip with McGees be without a trip to a candy store taken in North America by @forwardmovement2222

Here are some paintings I saw in Mexico when we lived there in 2022. They really appreciate and respect their artists and that is reflected in the quality of their painters.

I can’t get enough Rufino Tamayo. David Hockney clearly felt comfortable in Mexico. And Frido Kahlo is like the biggest icon in Mexico City to this day.

It was cool to walk around @zonamaco and that was my first time at a big art fair.

Oaxaca deserves its reputation for art as well!

At about this time, 2 years ago, Jamie and I began a 4 month stay in Mexico. I’m just now getting the time to post about it. One post can’t do it justice so I’m going to break it into a couple posts.

The first post is the most concise: a climb up Iztaccihuatl (aka Izta) which is a sacred volcano visible from Mexico City. This city is situated at about 7,000 ft above sea level in the Valley of Mexico. It has been inhabited for thousands of years and they believe that there could have been a million people living in the valley of Mexico when Cortez and the colonizers arrived in the early 1500s.

It is an area rife with seismic and volcanic activity. It’s surrounded by stratovolcanos, the tallest of which are a duo called Izta and Popo, at about 17,200 ft and 17,600 respectively. They are named after an indigenous leader and princess who are featured in a tragic story.

My friend, David, visited me from Bozeman and we climbed to the top of Izta in February 2022. We camped overnight at about 13,000 ft and then climbed the mountain to 17,200 ft starting around 3 am. All the other people on the mountain that day had guides and they all turned around because of the wind. Having the luxury of living/playing around the mountains in Bozeman, we weren’t deterred and comfortably finished the round trip journey in around 6 hours.

I finally finished building up the Green Machine! I’m loving riding it on dirt roads and smooth single track in the Sonoran Desert.

I LOVED spending time in numerous different bike shops for the various pieces of this project.
