Ken Whisson and John Foubister: Going Back In.
Showing at Heide MOMA until November the 22nd.
An exhibition of my work with the work of my friend Ken Whisson (1927 - 2022) plus a few paintings by Sidney Nolan, Joy Hester and Danila Vassilieff.

Thanks to Anna Zagala for having the idea and necessary energy, and Melissa Keys, Senior Curator Heide, and Lesley Harding, Director of Heide, for their support realising the exhibition.

I never saw it coming.

Photography by Christian Capurro.

On the weekend I saw wonderful ceramics by @gerrywedd in the @_coralstreetartspace_ in Victor Harbor. Beautifully proportioned, exquisitely finished large vessels/vases. As is almost always the case with Gerry's works every pitcher tells a story. The illustrations on these pots celebrate surfing culture heroics, and the sea. Perfectly realised drawings of devotion and love.
Gerry and life partner, artist @chris_derosa were recently described to me by a young Fleurieu artist as being the hub down here. I experience them as a kind of creative bedrock. It is reassuring knowing they are not far away, and always at work. South Australia is fortunate to have them.
For decades of commitment to their art making, Gerry and Chris should (I use that word deliberately) be awarded @createsa_ Fellowships, without being required to apply. by @foubisterjohn
