Creating content that fits around my life and business…. because who’s got time for anything else over 40? Not me!

I knew I had a 30 minute window to connect with you today - so sat in the sun with my notes app and a timer to test my theory.

I’ve been building a B Roll library to have handy when I’m time poor but still have something to say.

This took me 26 mins without rushing - on a day full of deadlines after a massive few weeks of work (feeling burnt out if I’m honest).

This is what I’m on about with Post Less. Mean More. When you have a life but still want to show up without being constantly online.

It’s being realistic with how much time you can commit then reverse engineering to make it count, to connect more meaningfully - in a way that’s consistently achievable for YOU.

Not setting yourself up for failure trying to follow rules only possible for 25 year olds.

Ok, closing my phone - back to work now… enjoy your weekend knowing you can let go of the content creation guilt my friends!

Rant incoming… I’m blowing up all the advice we’ve been given about content creation… because it’s not bloody realistic for us over 40.

This isn't for you if you're only interested in going viral or get thousands of followers overnight - this is for business owners who want to build a loyal audience without AI or posting daily.

Ever felt like you’ve been squeezed into box?

Have you noticed your tolerance for “SHOULDs” getting lower as you get the older?!

I sure have! That’s exactly what happened when I tried to create a piece of content following all things you “should” do according to every marketing guru out there. Epic fail (as the kids say).

But how do you ditch the rules AND still connect AND be yourself at the same time?

It doesn’t mean not showing up at all (sorry but it’s still part of your job as a business owner)…

You’ll have to watch to find out so i don’t have to type it all out here 😆

I’m thinking about running an over 40s workshop around this - who’d be keen for that? by @founders40up

If you're older in business, I'm guessing you're as tired as me of jumping through hoops to be seen on here?!

I filmed a Reel that I'm never going to post, it's that bad (swipe to get the low-down!).

Took me bloody ages too - following ALLL the ‘right’ content rules - but it’s total rubbish.

I’m not convinced this is what it takes to connect - especially when I’m talking to the most supremely intelligent midlife women on the planet.

I refuse to play this instagame being shoved into a box to blend into a sea of sameness.

All I want to do is help the incredible female founders in their 40s & 50s to get known for what they’re brilliant at, have time for what matter most and get well-paid in the process.

And i want to be ME, creative, messy, perfectly imperfect and REAL.

What do you reckon my friends?

•• Your to-list is the enemy of big dreams ••

Why do so many of us over 40 stay ‘busy’ but never actually get the big thing?

When you’ve got a to-do list as long as your arm everything feels important - so you’re stretched all week while your biggest goals stay on hold.

The difference between those who succeed and those who struggle - is what they choose to do first AND the commitment to get it done.

To me, it’s 3 key steps:

1. Identify the biggest bottleneck in your business that would have the greatest impact if you solved it?
2. Break it down into tiny tasks
3. Schedule non-negotiable time to do them.

And the secret for us women over 40 - is what you decide to do also depends on which move you’re making.

Pivoting into something new, powering up what you’ve already built or a smaller shift internal shift in how you show up.

Because once you know THAT the list sorts itself.

•• The bottleneck of indecision ••

It took me over a week to post this and I still couldn’t decide on the caption… so, point proved.

I’ve been stuck in analysis paralysis… overthinking what to post, is the story structure right, is the hook perfect, fiddling with fonts so I don’t look like everyone else… ugh, it’s bloody exhausting!

The decision I’ve made? Just get back to showing up as me. Not what the trends say. Not what I think I *should* do. Just me, my style, what I know resonates with you my friends over 40!

Sometimes the big picture can feel overwhelming so instead we do… nothing. The only way to break through the bottleneck is to make one decision, it doesn’t matter how small because one decision simply leads to the next.

Keep moving forward with tiny action… and it all starts with a single decision.
