POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Creating content that fits around my life and business…. because who’s got time for anything else over 40? Not me!

I knew I had a 30 minute window to connect with you today - so sat in the sun with my notes app and a timer to test my theory.

I’ve been building a B Roll library to have handy when I’m time poor but still have something to say.

This took me 26 mins without rushing - on a day full of deadlines after a massive few weeks of work (feeling burnt out if I’m honest).

This is what I’m on about with Post Less. Mean More. When you have a life but still want to show up without being constantly online.

It’s being realistic with how much time you can commit then reverse engineering to make it count, to connect more meaningfully - in a way that’s consistently achievable for YOU.

Not setting yourself up for failure trying to follow rules only possible for 25 year olds.

Ok, closing my phone - back to work now… enjoy your weekend knowing you can let go of the content creation guilt my friends!

Rant incoming… I’m blowing up all the advice we’ve been given about content creation… because it’s not bloody realistic for us over 40.

This isn't for you if you're only interested in going viral or get thousands of followers overnight - this is for business owners who want to build a loyal audience without AI or posting daily.

So I'm starting a series called ‘Post Less. Mean More.’ content creation for over 40s with a life and a meaningful business to run — who’s with me?

Sorry (not sorry) to get so ranty but I am done being unrealistic about what I can fit into my week!

Don’t know about you my friends but when it comes to businessing lately I’m a touch fed up, slightly irritated and just a bit over it… and in need of a good laugh. All I got is memes! 🫠🙃

I’m part Moira part Marge this week - you?

Ever felt like you’ve been squeezed into box?

This has been me recently every time I’ve gone to post.

And it reminded me of this funny story… the time I was in Cleo magazine with friends from work (where did 15 years go @alicaldi @sarah_green_____ ?!)

Get real! That’s what i’ve been telling myself lately - and it’s what’s coming in @founders40up Full Circle launching August 26!

Will you join me?! Get on the waitlist trailblazers!

Have you noticed your tolerance for “SHOULDs” getting lower as you get the older?!

I sure have! That’s exactly what happened when I tried to create a piece of content following all things you “should” do according to every marketing guru out there. Epic fail (as the kids say).

But how do you ditch the rules AND still connect AND be yourself at the same time?

It doesn’t mean not showing up at all (sorry but it’s still part of your job as a business owner)…

You’ll have to watch to find out so i don’t have to type it all out here 😆

I’m thinking about running an over 40s workshop around this - who’d be keen for that?

If you're older in business, I'm guessing you're as tired as me of jumping through hoops to be seen on here?!

I filmed a Reel that I'm never going to post, it's that bad (swipe to get the low-down!).

Took me bloody ages too - following ALLL the ‘right’ content rules - but it’s total rubbish.

I’m not convinced this is what it takes to connect - especially when I’m talking to the most supremely intelligent midlife women on the planet.

I refuse to play this instagame being shoved into a box to blend into a sea of sameness.

All I want to do is help the incredible female founders in their 40s & 50s to get known for what they’re brilliant at, have time for what matter most and get well-paid in the process.

And i want to be ME, creative, messy, perfectly imperfect and REAL.

What do you reckon my friends?

(Maybe I should share it so you can see how lame it is 🫠)

Yeah those were the days 😆

Also just spent ten minutes choosing a font colour only to land on the one I started with because i definitely don’t have anything else to do today 🫠

•• Your to-list is the enemy of big dreams ••

Why do so many of us over 40 stay ‘busy’ but never actually get the big thing?

When you’ve got a to-do list as long as your arm everything feels important - so you’re stretched all week while your biggest goals stay on hold.

The difference between those who succeed and those who struggle - is what they choose to do first AND the commitment to get it done.

To me, it’s 3 key steps:

1. Identify the biggest bottleneck in your business that would have the greatest impact if you solved it?
2. Break it down into tiny tasks
3. Schedule non-negotiable time to do them.

And the secret for us women over 40 - is what you decide to do also depends on which move you’re making.

Pivoting into something new, powering up what you’ve already built or a smaller shift internal shift in how you show up.

Because once you know THAT the list sorts itself.

It’s exactly why I built the Next Move Maker - to take that move, uncover what you REALLY want - and map out your next best steps to take tiny action this week.

Comment MOVE to stop the busywork and start making meaningful progress on your BIG dreams.

•• The bottleneck of indecision ••

It took me over a week to post this and I still couldn’t decide on the caption… so, point proved.

I’ve been stuck in analysis paralysis… overthinking what to post, is the story structure right, is the hook perfect, fiddling with fonts so I don’t look like everyone else… ugh, it’s bloody exhausting!

The decision I’ve made? Just get back to showing up as me. Not what the trends say. Not what I think I *should* do. Just me, my style, what I know resonates with you my friends over 40!

Sometimes the big picture can feel overwhelming so instead we do… nothing. The only way to break through the bottleneck is to make one decision, it doesn’t matter how small because one decision simply leads to the next.

Keep moving forward with tiny action… and it all starts with a single decision.

Still stuck on how to move your business forward? Comment MOVE to access my online Decision-Maker to unblock that pesky bottleneck and take tiny action this week.

Indecision is one of the biggest bottlenecks for your business… especially for us over 40 because we don’t have the luxury of wasting time heading down the wrong path.

And this is where we get paralysed and procrastinate.. and so… nothing changes.

BUT staying stuck in your head is still a choice… until you decide to get out of your own way.

So i’ve been working away like a nutty professor to develop a decision-maker to help you get out of your head, get clear on what you want and start taking action towards it right away.

Comment MOVE and I’ll send it to you my friend!

Running a business over 40 is f*ing hard… especially if you’re trying to figure it all out for yourself.

Wrapping up the latest program of @founders40up it wasn’t all the work we did, all the workshops and worksheets the women got through - but it was the inner work, the internal shifts that were the most insane.

The power of lifting each other up and surrounding yourself with women in a similar boat is something else.

Not everything in business can be solved in 3 months but pretty much every problem in business solvable when you invest in your own growth and call on the community around you.

Epic things ahead for @founders40up stay tuned my friends….

That’s a wrap for Next Chapter! 3 months with the most insanely talented, smart and beautiful women you’ll ever meet… running brilliant businesses and cheering each other to succeed (and hang in there)!

Life over 40 is hard enough - but throw a business in there and now you’re cooking with chaos 😆

But we’ve tapped something special to make it better together - more fun, more ways to grow and maybe just *slightly* easier!!

This chapter might be over but it’s certainly not the end… what’s coming next for @founders40up is going to be epic!!! Stay tuned….
