Little boys & jet mode ✈️ IYKYK.

It’s strictly forbidden in our house… mostly because it’s used to blast each other in the face or ambush my poor plants, but in this moment, it was needed (to clean the perfect filthy rock we found for the garden).

Everyone wants to hear about the chaos, but there’s also a lot of this, and this sweetness deserves the spotlight sometimes too.

I constantly get asked what it’s like to have 4 boys and my mind automatically goes to the constant noise, climbing/jumping, wrestling and overall insanity that our home is filled with. Give the people what they want right? I have entertaining stories and videos for DAYS. But, today I’m just really feeling like our boys need more credit. Yeah they’re wild animals, but they’re also the sweetest little mommy obsessed souls.

I could crawl out of a dumpster and this kid would still find so much comfort in my smell and that’s just the mushiest thing in the world 🥰

As a mom who worries about absolutely everything, by my 4th baby I decided that I wanted to spend more time enjoying the moments with my last baby and less time worrying. Things I’ve learned since quitting my teaching job of 12 years to be a stay at home mom…

It was so much easier for me to maintain structure and be consistent with routines in a class of 24 kids than it is in my own home with 4.

I really had to sit down and think about our mornings and figure out WHY I felt like I had lost all control. I realized I am doing WAY too much for my kids and that there were a number of tasks they could and SHOULD be completing independently. This wasn’t happening because they were so used to hearing me talk and give them directions, that they learned to just tune me out.

What would I do in the classroom? I would make a visual checklist, walk my students through it a few times and then gradually remove my prompting until they were able to independently follow the routine.

It can be so hard to slow down and think in the middle of the overwhelm, which leads to us just accepting the chaos rather than coming up with solutions.

What started as a kid from the northeast rooting for the Broncos in the 60’s turned into his 4 kids, their spouses and 6 grandkids sharing a love for one team.

So yeah, it is kind of a big deal.

Not convincing him to coach a team for the first time in 6 years of sports with our sons was THE move 🏆.

The ones wrangling the sideline siblings know it’s no joke. Love that my husband coaches our kids, but it definitely comes with some struggles!
