Hi! I’m Vicki & I help guide people like you through the design phase of building your custom home. When we built our first home in 2005, I had absolutely no idea how to choose any of the materials to design a house. I was totally winging it. I had no idea what to pick first or second or even third. I didn’t know how to work with vendors or have any concept of building materials. I didn’t even know what I didn’t know. I was completely overwhelmed & totally confused. I did not hire a designer because honestly, I didn’t even understand how to work with one. I certainly didn’t think I could afford one! So, I spent countless hours on research. Trying to learn everything I could about this stuff & time was of the essence. We needed the material selected “yesterday” to keep the project on track! Not to mention, I made lots of costly mistakes! I realized a few years ago there’s a void in this design market. Some people just want guidance. They may not need full service design to hand select all of their finishes. I started helping other people walk through this design process in 2006. In 2020, I realized I could work virtually (like so many others.) So, I began sharing things on Instagram. 🤗 It has evolved from there! I created virtual design consults (zoom sessions) to guide people through the design process. I now work with people all over the US! I understand the building process from start to finish, so I can literally jump in at any point. Things like… “I’m not happy with this floor plan & I need some help!” “I am completely overwhelmed & need a list of things to do. Just tell me what to do next.” ✨Your design consults are one hour, either in-person or virtually through Zoom. The design fee is a flat rate. We get a lot accomplished in an hour too! I am a wife of 22 years & a mom of three beautiful kids! We also just added a new puppy to the mix! I have a Bachelor’s degree from The University of Alabama in Communications. (Roll Tide!) My husband & I have built countless custom homes over the years & I love helping others through this process! THANK YOU for following along! Calacatta Premata Quartz! Such a timeless Quartz countertop! I am working on a Kitchen Refresh with my client. Not quite a full remodel, but we are making smart changes to update her kitchen! I know it may be controversial, but we are NOT painting her beautiful stained cabinets. They work so well the rest of her home & it is quality cabinetry! If you have stained cabinets, tap the save button as a resource for this stunning, warm quartz idea! Have you used this Quartz? Let me know in the comments. #kitcheninspiration #kitchenremodel #fairhope #quartzcountertops #calacattaquartz taken in Fairhope, Alabama by @fowlerdesignbuild

So.Much. Better.🩵 And before you say, it wasn’t that bad in the first place, I get it. We weren’t going to replace the cabinets, initially. Just the countertops & backsplash. But, I realized the cabinets were in rough condition. Sometimes you have to ask the question: Why spend the money on countertops & a backsplash, if you will ultimately end up replacing the cabinets in a few years? My client & I discussed the options & replacing the cabinets made the most sense for her family. We packed this kitchen full of storage & that island definitely functions better too! We did keep the same range, but added that little beverage cooler. Love how this one turned out! It doesn’t have to be a big kitchen to function well. Drop your questions in the comments! 🩵🩵 #kitchenremodel #kitchendesign #kitchenrenovation #fairhope #fairhopealabama taken in Fairhope, Alabama by @fowlerdesignbuild

Soft Neutrals & a hint of Navy-These selections for this Texas home came together in TWO days and all done Virtually! My client is building a second home in Texas. We previously worked together in 2020 to design her custom home in Colorado. I am in Alabama & we’ve never actually met in person! BUT, after working together for months previously, we know each other! It was such an easy transition to work together the second time. This home was a little different. It was not completely custom. It was more in line with semi-custom. She had a showroom of selections & only two days to make all of her decisions. That is hard and stressful and overwhelming for anyone that has ever gone through this process!!! I was so glad to help! We walked through it & talked through it. She left that showroom feeling very happy & CONFIDENT in her selections. I am so thankful she trusted me for the second time with one of life’s largest investments! It’s going to be a beautiful home! If you need help designing your hard finishes for your custom home, let’s talk. Tap the link in my profile to learn more about virtual design consults. We can work together once or multiple times. It’s completely up to you! #customhomes #kitchendesıgn #bathroomdesıgn #kitcheninspiration #kitchenhelp taken in Fairhope, Alabama by @fowlerdesignbuild

A Normal Kitchen Renovation! Walk with me! I sent this video to my clients in Georgia. We’ve worked together virtually to renovate their new home (in Fairhope, Al). We are the boots on the ground designer-project manager-builder-realtor-that is making this renovation come to life. This Kitchen design solved a lot of storage issues & resolved the weird layout dilemma of the previous kitchen. We tried to work with the existing cabinets, but they were in really bad shape. It made sense to replace them & it has made such a difference. Note**The cabinets look really Blue in this video. They are actually a soft Blue Green. Follow along as we share the process to design, renovate & build homes! Before/After-The after pictures are usually what you see on Instagram & they are beautiful! I’m showing a little more behind the scenes of what it takes on the design side to create these “after” photos. Absolutely loved working with my clients on the design side for this new build. She had a vision for this bar area & we worked together to make it come to life! That kitchen isn’t too bad either. 😉 Professional photos: @tedmilesphotography Design, videos & other photos: Vicki Fowler @fowlerdesignbuild Furniture & Decor: That’s all my client!
