Lessons learned as I roll across the sky one more time, sprinkling fairy dust and pre-rolled goodness.

I think this season is about just loving life right where it is. And the people are the bonus. It’s still morning and someone has sent me money, several people told me they loved me and one delightful friend reminded me that I could have been married to David Banner right now but I curved him in Miami. Reggie, it just never gets old. 🤺

This collection of 🛝 is my love offering to some of the usual suspects who light up my life. Couldn’t possibly place a smiling face of you all - but in my life you know who you are.

And there are those who don’t appear in photos, some who made my pulse race in the wee hours, some who are the silent keepers of my dreams and secrets. You know who you are… I still and will always love YOU.

About the film:
Directed by legendary poet Maya Angelou in her sole feature directorial debut, Down in the Delta is a tender portrait of familial endurance and intergenerational repair. When Loretta Sinclair (Alfre Woodard) finds herself and her children trapped within the compounding pressures of urban disinvestment and substance abuse on Chicago’s South Side, her mother Annie (Mary Alice) intervenes. Pawning a prized heirloom, Annie sends the family down South to reconnect with their roots at their family home in the Mississippi Delta. Supported by her uncle Earl (Al Freeman Jr.), Loretta begins confronting her pain by contributing to a community and rediscovering her footing. Looong before EAC, Englewood’s Boulevard Arts Center was a place where we came to find hip-hop, make culture and community w art (s/o @pugsatomz 👑 )

EAC came together in 2017, w/ an initial goal to simply “be”:

👏🏽be intentional about reframing the narrative around Englewood. not as a place waiting to be “saved”, but as a community *already* full of artists, ideas, solution-makers, history and possibility.

Art don’t replace housing, food access, safety or economic opportunity. It belongs alongside all of it🙏🏽

We acknowledge that momentum can start with what’s within reach: a wall, a viaduct, a vacant lot, an idea, a relationship, and people willing to work together🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

🗣️ANNOUNCING: EAC has partnered with @tsouorg , an interactive, nationally touring exhibit of 30+ African drum sculptures that has traveled from the United Nations to Essence Fest and more.

Soon The Stories of Us comes to Chicago for 2 months only, across just 3 sites, with 5 new works by local Chicago artists.👌🏾

And one of those sites is 63rd & May, right in Englewood, at the unveiling of our EAC Arts Village Sculpture Park: the *only* South Side location!

Dusting off the share button because it’s Marcus’ fKing Birthday!

Today’s the day Miss Gangsta Glo popped out this tall, handsome drink of water, a shady Cancer of the highest order. Here’s some fun facts as I embarrass him ON TUHDAY.

This man has never met a dog he didn’t love instantly…
Humans? Well….that’s another story.

He’s a multi-hyphenate.
Photographer, Administrator of the Arts and a REAL soul singer if you’ve ever had the pleasure of his performance.

He is the male best frannnn to at least 5-7 fiercely independent women. He knows our peri and our pretty very well.

He’s a sexy-sexy man who can cook, reason and break it down for the right one. And SINGLE 🪭

He saves my life every damn day, and specifically this one day November 2024, rocking his Howard gear while sitting in the ER stoically worrying about me.

The last pic is just a reverse uno thirst trap because My Friends Are 🥵!

We are spotlighting EAC’s artist Tanya Ward. A founding member, Tanya is a social media marketing professional and author with more than 15 years in grassroots and traditional marketing engagement. She is proud to be a Chicago-born, Englewood community-raised individual, who is passionate about mentoring under-served and at-risk youth. Under the persona of FoxBrownFox, Tanya serves the arts/entertainment community as a publicist, blogger of popular culture, and social media consultant.

Interested in seeing Tanya Ward’s work? Her piece “From the ballad of a real black girl” is on display NOW! You can visit the CPAG office to view EAC’s 10 Toes Down group exhibition until February 27th.
