Beautiful spaces belong to all of us. Period. 💚

Last week, the club stopped by Englewood Village Plaza—the heartbeat of the Grow Greater Englewood Farmers Market, the gateway to the Englewood Nature Trail, and a hub for the community.

Shoutout to Agricultural Steward Adonis for guiding us through the harvest, and to Tanya and Cary for breaking down the incredible future of the plaza.

📍 Make sure to visit: 5800 S. Halsted

Thank you to @growgreaterenglewood for opening your doors to us and to everyone who showed up. See you all next month!

It’s that time of the year again! EAC is a joyful Community Partner to @chifilmfest Community Cinema 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽! Join us for a FREE Community screening of Maya Angelou’s 1998 film DOWN IN THE DELTA on Wednesday, September 23rd at 630pm at our very own Kennedy King College.

ENGLEWOOD STAND UP for the culture! 🖤🙌🏾
RSVP to attend via the link in our bio.

About the film:
Directed by legendary poet Maya Angelou in her sole feature directorial debut, Down in the Delta is a tender portrait of familial endurance and intergenerational repair. When Loretta Sinclair (Alfre Woodard) finds herself and her children trapped within the compounding pressures of urban disinvestment and substance abuse on Chicago’s South Side, her mother Annie (Mary Alice) intervenes. Pawning a prized heirloom, Annie sends the family down South to reconnect with their roots at their family home in the Mississippi Delta. Supported by her uncle Earl (Al Freeman Jr.), Loretta begins confronting her pain by contributing to a community and rediscovering her footing. Moving past clinical narratives of inner-city struggle, Angelou crafts a deeply human meditation on the enduring sanctuary of the Black family.

Last week Grow Greater Englewood was one of the honorees as a direct grantee of the Greening America’s Cities grantees program. Presented by @greenlatinos_il at ‘Communities in Bloom’, a celebration honoring Latino and Black led organizations transforming Chicago through community driven urban greening.

We are grateful to be recognized alongside the community, partners, and funders who make this work possible🌱
