FPP, WHO'S HEADING TO CHARLOTTE?!

Imaging USA 2027 is calling, and we want to know who's making the trip!

There's something special about getting together with photographers who understand our obsession with beautiful light, new gear, and talking shop until someone reminds us we haven't eaten.

Between the education, the trade show, reconnecting with old friends, and making a few new ones, Imaging USA is always a great excuse to get our photography family together.

And you KNOW the FPP crew knows how to have a good time!

ROLL CALL! Are you heading to Charlotte for Imaging USA 2027?

Drop a 🙋‍♀️ in the comments if you're going, and tag an FPP friend you hope to see there!

What if your biggest failures are actually leading you toward your greatest success?

We've all been there. The image that didn't score well. The creative idea that completely missed the mark. The moment you questioned whether you were actually good enough.

But what if those moments were exactly what you needed to grow?

We're excited to welcome Angela Hughes to FOCUS 2027 with her class, "Failing Your Way to Success!"

Angela is a Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, award-winning portrait artist, educator, and PPA image competition juror who knows firsthand that artistic growth rarely happens in our comfort zones.

In this honest, encouraging class, Angela will share real experiences from her photography career and image competition journey, showing how rejected images, creative risks, and unexpected setbacks can lead to stronger work and greater confidence.

Because sometimes the image that fails teaches you more than the one that wins.

Come ready to rethink failure, embrace the messy parts of creativity, and leave inspired to take your next big artistic risk.

Who's ready to learn from Angela at FOCUS 2027?

Ted Lasso might have been talking about darts, but photographers could use this advice, too. 🎯
We can get pretty attached to the way we do things. Our favorite lighting setups, lenses, editing styles, and even the camera brands we swear by.
Then someone comes along and creates something beautiful using a completely different approach.
Instead of dismissing it, ask how they did it.
Some of the best photography education happens when we're willing to admit there's more than one way to make a great image.
What's something another photographer taught you that completely changed your approach? by @fpp_fl

The photograph is only the beginning.

For me, a portrait has never really ended with making the photograph. I want to create something beautiful from the people you love. Something that holds a place in your home, keeps those people present in your everyday life, and becomes even more meaningful with time.

And for a long time, I’ve wanted to explore how I could take that even further.

This past weekend at @fpp_fl Florida School, I spent time with @painter.12 learning digital painting and exploring just how much possibility there is beyond the original photograph. These two little before-and-afters were class exercises (clearly I had a little fun with that flamingo 😂), but they’re part of something much bigger I’ve been wanting to explore.

I’m learning how photography can become the foundation for mixed media artwork, continuing through digital artistry, texture and hand embellishment. Each layer creates the opportunity for something more personal, more dimensional and truly one of a kind.

This is an exciting new layer of the work I already love creating, and I’m looking forward to sharing more of the process as it takes shape.

The photograph is where it begins.

I can’t wait to show you where I’m taking it. ❤️
