Qualche mese fa @triennalemilano @mrsammicheli e @kvadrattextiles mi hanno chiesto di pensare a un lavoro che raccontasse la pratica di Frans Dijkmeijer (1936-2011), all’interno di una retrospettiva a lui dedicata.Tessitore vertiginoso e una delle più grandi influenze della tessitura moderna, ha dedicato tutta la sua vita all’esplorazione e all’innovazione di questo linguaggio. Leggendo la sua biografia ho scoperto che, parallelamente alla tessitura, la sua più grande passione erano le piante.Ho pensato quindi di non voler realizzare un lavoro che raccontasse direttamente la sua pratica, ma piuttosto qualcosa che secondo il mio istinto, semplicemente gli sarebbe potuta piacere.Il lavoro comprende l’utilizzo dello schermo più piccolo del mondo, che contiene al suo interno un singolo fiore. Ogni schermo è montato su una sottile asta d’ottone alta circa un metro, con una batteria nascosta alla base. Ne ho realizzati e utilizzati 23 per comporre un giardino. Quello che mi piace di questo lavoro è che, grazie alla batteria, ogni oggetto può essere posizionato liberamente nello spazio, esattamente come un fiore. Inoltre, essendo lo schermo così piccolo, l’unico modo per vedere l’immagine è avvicinarsi molto: anche questo esattamente come con un fiore. Nextones and @altavia present Slow Return, a site-specific performance created for the unique setting of Tones Teatro Natura.Across Friday and Saturday, the quarry becomes a space where time is experienced not as erosion, but as return.
