This morning I spoke with KSBW about the upcoming Aptos Town Hall on public safety.

The goal isn’t to fuel fear … it’s to build awareness, connection, and prevention. When our neighbors know how to communicate, report, and respond together, we make it harder for crime to take root.

A big thank you to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office for hosting this conversation, and to our community for showing up ready to protect one another and our families.

This week was ugly, disgusting.

T-bone car accidents, late pickups, slips of the tongue, missed practices, Robitussin coughs, dog cysts, insurance runarounds, HR email chains, calendar Tetris, long-ass meetings, new-hire trainings, interdepartmental drama, territorial pissing contests, come-to-Jesus convos, uncomfortable silences, and an irresponsible amount of cortisol.

But what’s the saying … “How blessed we are to have so many problems worth solving.”

I’ll admit, I was shaking in my boots a little today.

It was beautifully terrifying to see the scale of what we are building, the reach of it, the difference it could make. I’ve heard that if a vision doesn’t terrify you, it isn’t worth pursuing. So we may be on to something 😉

The Santa Cruz Women’s Network board gathered for our first strategy session to chart where the network goes next and how it can matter most.

We began with the women themselves: what they want, what they need, the obstacles they wrestle with, and where we can meaningfully step in.

Then we turned the lens inward, asking how we work together and how each of us shows up at our fullest, so the mission endures.

I was struck by the sheer caliber gathered around that table: the expertise, the hard-won wisdom, the relationships, the resources, and a shared conviction in what we are building.

That the @santacruzmah opened its doors to us was just the cherry on top.

I’m eager to see what this work makes possible for women across our community. I’m grateful to be entrusted with a part in it, and I intend to help lay a foundation worthy of the women who will follow

To the women of Santa Cruz County: this network has earned its reputation for an open door, and that door stays open. Wherever you are in your work or your life, there is a seat for you here.

I’ve been working alongside Kristin Keller of Keller Coast Consulting for a while now, and it’s time to make it official.

Kristin’s spent 25 years inside large companies before she started KCC. She knows how to take an organization that’s grown scattered and turn it into something that runs powerfully.

We’ve been in each other’s corner for months now. She’s introduced me into rooms like the @santacruzwomensnetwork . We’re in the room together for high stakes pitches that change healthcare and public organizations.

Neither of us tries to be everything to every client. So when the work calls for her expertise or mine, we bring each other in.

I’m still processing the feelings from this night, because I’ve been to so many networking events in my career, and this one felt nothing like those.

It was warm and inviting, the kind of space where I could be myself and still be challenged to grow. I’d been hesitant to take on another leadership role, worried about adding more to an already full plate.

What I didn’t expect was for it to turn my small plate into a large table, one where beautiful, powerful, local women expand and share their ideas and expertise so generously, so inclusively. That generosity wasn’t just emotional, it showed up in my business too. I left with new client leads before the night was over.

This is an impressive group of women, and I’m grateful to have been invited to join. Thank you to @nikki_sanjuan for the vision behind building a group that is truly different. I hope to live up to everything the Partnership Chair role calls for.
