Did your business grow but your tax setup stayed the same?

The structure you picked on day one may not fit anymore. Sole prop, LLC, and S corp are each taxed differently, and the right choice depends on your numbers.

Fall is a good time to look, before the year closes.

I’ve spent enough time asking my body to be different. I’m learning to ask what it needs. My new essay explores cerrada de caderas, often called Closing the Bones, and what this postpartum tradition invites me to consider about midlife. What would it mean to mark this passage with care?

To have what we’ve lived through acknowledged before anyone asks us to move on? I keep returning to the image of being held, with nothing to prove and no younger version of myself to recover.

There is room for everything we bring, including what still hurts.

Preparer retired? You're not alone.

It happens a lot around here. Switching feels like a hassle, but it doesn't have to be. Bring last year's return and we'll take it from there.

I’ll admit, I was shaking in my boots a little today.

It was beautifully terrifying to see the scale of what we are building, the reach of it, the difference it could make. I’ve heard that if a vision doesn’t terrify you, it isn’t worth pursuing. So we may be on to something 😉

The Santa Cruz Women’s Network board gathered for our first strategy session to chart where the network goes next and how it can matter most.

We began with the women themselves: what they want, what they need, the obstacles they wrestle with, and where we can meaningfully step in.

Then we turned the lens inward, asking how we work together and how each of us shows up at our fullest, so the mission endures.

I was struck by the sheer caliber gathered around that table: the expertise, the hard-won wisdom, the relationships, the resources, and a shared conviction in what we are building.

That the @santacruzmah opened its doors to us was just the cherry on top.

I’m eager to see what this work makes possible for women across our community. I’m grateful to be entrusted with a part in it, and I intend to help lay a foundation worthy of the women who will follow

To the women of Santa Cruz County: this network has earned its reputation for an open door, and that door stays open. Wherever you are in your work or your life, there is a seat for you here.

Come join us.

📅 Extension deadline: Thursday, October 15.

If you filed an extension this spring, your federal and California returns are due then. An extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay, so interest has been building on any balance since April.

Paperwork still in a pile? 🗂️ Now's the time to get it moving.

We got a Paul!

Meet Paul, our new Project Coordinator and the latest addition to Sproutling.

He gives us more local hands, more capacity, and more ability to put the right people around whatever our clients need to get done.

And because apparently it’s a requirement to work here: Paul is local, surfs, and is a dog person. He’ll fit right in. 😂

Welcome to the team, Paul!

I’ve been working alongside Kristin Keller of Keller Coast Consulting for a while now, and it’s time to make it official.

Kristin’s spent 25 years inside large companies before she started KCC. She knows how to take an organization that’s grown scattered and turn it into something that runs powerfully.

We’ve been in each other’s corner for months now. She’s introduced me into rooms like the @santacruzwomensnetwork . We’re in the room together for high stakes pitches that change healthcare and public organizations.

Neither of us tries to be everything to every client. So when the work calls for her expertise or mine, we bring each other in.

If you’re a Santa Cruz County business or organization working with either of us, you now have access to both.

Sometimes the right partnership finds you.❤️
