I’m excited to share I’m now opening pre-orders for my photo book, “After the Riot,” shipping in March. I was blown away by the response to the initial limited release, and glad to be able to share this book with more of you, especially as this week marks five years since the January 6th, 2021 attack on the US Capitol..

You can order it at my website, http://frankthorp.com (which is linked in my bio). The 120-page book consists of the large-format photos and portraits, some of which have never been published before, paired with first-person accounts.

This 8x10 hardcover book will come signed and is available for $75, plus shipping wherever you are. There are also options for 8x10 archival pigment print add-on, or a limited edition 11x17 gelatin silver print, which I’ll custom-create in my darkroom. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund.

I’m proud to be able to share this larger physical piece of the work I did as part of two award-winning stories documenting the aftermath of January 6th. The photography and interviews in this book were recognized by NPPA, POY, WHNPA, and the RTCA, and the stories in these pages are the ones that should live on - theirs are the voices that should continue to be heard.

Concerns over data centers have grown across the country, and the issue could have an electoral impact in races that could determine the majority in both the House and Senate.

We traveled to Mt Orab, Ohio, where the overwhelming sentiment at a local planning commission meeting was against bringing a data center to their sleepy small town. Many described their homes as the quiet oasis where they planned to retire, a quiet that could now be disrupted by the hum of the proposed data center.

The issue has particularly resonated in the Senate race, where Democrat Sherrod Brown is trying to return to the upper chamber by defeating Republican Sen Jon Husted. Husted aggressively encouraged data center development while serving as Lieutenant Governor, something Brown is trying to use against him in November.

We spoke to Republican voters who blame the politicians they voted into office as responsible for the uptick in data center construction, and say they’re considering voting Democrat or potentially just not voting at all. One told @ryanobles she hopes November is a wake up call for Republicans.

The data center issue seems like the perfect encapsulation of the sentiment from Americans who feel like they’re speaking, but no one is listening. Data centers come and break up the peace in the neighborhoods they cherish, powering billionaire-owned technologies that they’re told could take their jobs and jack up their electricity bills. We’ll find out in November if it’s an issue that could change the direction of the county. by @frankthorpv

Dispatch from Texas, where @ryanobles talked to Latino voters who had voted for Trump but will be voting for Democrats in the midterms thanks to high prices and ICE enforcement that they say has gone too far.

“Two words: buyer’s remorse,” Javier Palomarez of the US Hispanic Business Council told us, “That’s what our community, basically, if you could sum it up by that phrase right there. They were shocked by the way they felt betrayed, and that anger has only built over time and not gotten any better.”

The sentiment is shown in a new @nbcnews poll showing that 74% of Latino voters disapprove of Trump’s handling of the economy. The issue is hyper-relevant in Texas’ 15th district, which was redistricted to be even more Republican, but could swing blue if Tejano singer Bobby Pulido is able to unseat Rep Monica De La Cruz (R-TX).

“Trump was saying: ‘Vote for me, and I’ll make your life better tomorrow. Everything will get cheaper,’” Pulido said in an interview at his home in McAllen. “And people right now see that they got lied to. You know, everybody knew that Trump was what he was. They were just hoping that some of that success and wealth would rub off on them.”

Maine for 36 hours w/ @ryanobles to cover the Senate primary where Graham Platner won the Democratic nomination to face Sen Susan Collins (R-ME), who is seeking a sixth term.

The overwhelming sentiment from Democratic voters was while they were aware of Platner’s multiple controversies, they were willing to see past them to vote Collins out of office.

“I hate saying this, but sometimes I feel like it’s the lesser of two evils when you come to these things,” Ryan Saucier, a Platner supporter, told Ryan, “I mean, we all go through stuff in our lives, and you know, the person who throws the stone in the glass house, right? I mean, you know, to judge him for stuff that he’s apologized for, he’s owned it.”

“It gives me pause, of course, and personally, I feel that sometimes our personal lives have to be kind of kept separate,” Irena McQuarrie told Ryan, “There’s no perfect candidate that I’m going to be like, ‘yes, you are absolutely the most perfect human being.’ We have limited choices, and from the choices that I’ve been given, I feel like that’s the best choice.” by @frankthorpv

An insanely awesome weekend which started with speaking at the @filmforeverweekend in NYC. I cannot thank @birgitbuchart and the folks at @robertsdistributors & @ilfordphoto enough for the invite, and for giving me the opportunity to meet (in person) so many of the film photographers and industry leaders I’ve been following (on instagram) over the years.

Then a birthday celebration with @hallie_gram and Monroe which included an absolutely incredible visit to Sarah’s @oliphantstudio, a trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and an ice cream cake enjoyed with friends on a table in the middle of a side-street in Chinatown. Oh, and then back to DC to watch a Nats win with @nbcnews colleagues!

Feeling very lucky marking this trip around the sun, and very much looking forward to the next one.

📷 of me speaking are thanks to @birgitbuchart, most of the pictures with folks after that are courtesy or the incomparable @noahfrickalofs. taken in New York, New York by @frankthorpv

A MESSAGE FROM THE KING! King Charles III speaks to a joint meeting of Congress, the first time that’s happened since Queen Elizabeth II was the first British monarch to do so in 1991 (This is 4x5 and digital).

“I pray with all my heart that our alliance will continue to defend our shared values, with our partners in Europe and the Commonwealth, and across the world, and that we ignore the clarion calls to become ever more inward-looking,” the King said.

“America’s words carry weight and meaning, as they have since Independence, he added, “The actions of this great nation matter even more.” by @frankthorpv
