This weekend I had the time of my life during the @worldclimbing Paraclimbing World Cup.

After qualifications I was first! I made so much progress since my last competition, two months ago in Innsbruck where I ended up 10th. After that competition I started doubting a bit about my self. But I wasn't going to give up. I trained hard, ate healthy and slept as much as possible (stupid heatwaves!) and got help from @liselottedebruyn

In the finals I ended up fifth on the World Cup which places me fourth in Europe. Just one more hold would have put me on the podium, so I am still hungry to make up for that on the next two competitions in Korea and Japan at the end of October.

Congrats to pavitravandenhoven and @cam_sophic for their amazing climbs. Thank you @guidoluypaert for taking care of us.

Congratz also to @davidgoesclimbing , @ampvlee , @raininbergen and especially @rubenroldan_ypk for steeling my medals ;) and challenging me to keep improving.

And thank you to all volunteers, organisers, routesetters and everybody who helped making it a great comp.

Nog exact 2 jaar tot Los Angeles 2028! 🇺🇸🧗‍♂️

Even een flashback naar 2021...
Midden in de coronatijd (mondmaskers, afstandsstickers op de grond en een Minion als tijdelijke trainingspartner 🍌😅) reisde ik naar LA voor de IFSC Paraclimbing World Cup. En met succes: goud mee naar huis naar Leuven! 🥇

Tijdens diezelfde trip bezocht ik ook het iconische Muscle Beach in Venice — de legendarische plek waar over exact 2 jaar onze officiële Paralympische klimwand zal staan.

Vanaf dat moment wist ik het zeker: hier wil ik staan wanneer paraklimmen voor het allereerst schittert op het grootste sportpodium ter wereld.

Elke training, elke hoogtemeter en elke blaar op de vingers van de afgelopen jaren brengt ons dichter bij dat ene grote doel: LA 2028. 🔥

Part 1: LEAD

We had a lot of athletes from all over the world. As athlete representative I knew many paraclimbers prefer to climb lead (and not top rope) but we don't get this chance in competitions. So we decided to give it a go and it felt right. Athletes from all classes climbed lead, there were no issues and everybody survived.

Every cloud has a silver lining. I didn’t reach the finals yesterday, but because of that, I had the incredible privilege of co-commentating the live stream today alongside @mattgroom1

Honestly, I was so surprised to see such an experienced commentator getting nervous right before we went live. It just goes to show how much this means to Matt, and how much of his heart and soul he puts into every single broadcast.
