I spent six days creating an independent, fact-based voter guide for Asheville’s November 2026 election.

The guide explains candidates’ positions, races, and ballot questions in plain English, using public sources and research tools developed over the past year.

No endorsements, rankings, or gotcha language, just clear information and sources for every claim.

@aypros828 put on a great event last night introducing all of the Asheville area candidates to us. Big thanks to the @nc_governor for hosting us at his Western Residence. We were visited by your backyard guests at the end of the event

A highlight for me was that I got to meet @jamieagernc who I feel will be our next US-11 representative in DC. He is exactly what WNC needs and understands the need. Farmers are the backbone of our country!

Also met @brianturnernc who has helped me on some things in Raleigh too.

On this day 9 years ago, I randomly decided to pop down under the Brooklyn Bridge to check out a skate spot called The Banks. There was chain-link fence up everywhere, but there was a hole in the fence so I descended down. I found some kids skating so I popped out the camera and started shooting some quick photos, and then NYPD showed up and chased us out.

I think it’s cool that it’s open again. People are starting to skate it again. This place was in so many magazines growing up, and to step foot on the legendary bricks was amazing.

I grew up in a family of veterans.

The flag was never something we paraded around or forced onto anyone. It just hung there, quiet and honest, the way real things usually are.

That’s still what it means to me now.

I think about my family coming from Germany, from England. I think about my Native American ancestors who were here long before any of us showed up.

This flag is supposed to stand for all of it. Diversity. Immigrants who helped build this country. The people who were already here first.

Patriotism isn’t a performance. It’s not about who’s loudest or who wears the most red white and blue while screaming MERICA with a Budweiser in hand.

Patriotism is union. It’s 50 different states, 50 different groups of people, choosing to form something bigger than themselves. A more perfect union, not a perfect one. That was the whole point from the start.

That’s what I’m sitting with this July 4th. What we actually stand for. What we’re grateful for. What independence really means, and what it takes to keep earning it.

That work never finishes. It’s not something you check off once. It’s ongoing, every year, every generation.

This flag has meant the same thing to me since I was a kid standing next to it while my proud grandfather took pictures of me, and it still means the same thing today. taken in Asheville, North Carolina by @freas_frames

Went to the @ashevilletourists match last night against the Rome Emperors.

Decided to take a roll of film for the game and see what I could come up with, having only 36 exposures. Here are the results minus some trash out of focus garbage I shot too...not bad for 1-2 second handheld exposures at the end.
