Deadhorse, Alaska is easily one of the most unique places we’ve ever visited!

It serves as the official northern terminus of the Pan-American Highway - a network of roads that stretches roughly 19,000 miles all the way down to Ushuaia, Argentina at the southern tip of South America.

Reaching the northern end of this iconic route in our converted Sprinter van has been a massive dream of ours, and it only makes us want to drive the entire thing south one day! 🚐🌎

A few wild facts about Deadhorse:

✈️ Commercial Flights: As a flight attendant, it was surreal seeing regular commercial 737s flying into such a remote outpost! Kinda made me want to non-rev out just for kicks.

⛽️ Record Gas Prices: Remember how Yukon River Camp was pricey? Deadhorse officially took the crown for the most expensive diesel of our entire road trip! (When fuel has to be trucked up here, you pay for the logistics 💸).

🦌 Industrial Wildlife: Caribou roam right through the middle of town, unbothered by heavy machinery. I even saw a quick glimpse of an Arctic Fox carrying their next meal right through town!

✉️ Postcard Tradition: It’s home to the most northern post office in the US! We couldn’t leave without writing and mailing postcards home with an official Prudhoe Bay postmark.

Next up: Hopping on the shuttle for the final leg to touch the Arctic Ocean!

We joined the 30% club! 🏔️☀️ They say 70% of visitors miss out on seeing the peak of Denali because of the consistent cloud cover ☁️

But despite the crappy weather forecast for the Dalton Highway, the Denali NP area had other weather plans so when we saw clear skies over the highest peak in North America...we stopped and took a million photos.

From Denver to The Yukon, these are just some of our favorite moments from the first 9 days on the road. We’ve covered a lot of ground and can’t wait for aaallll the wild miles ahead. Next stop, Alaska!

Side note: we love that Abbey found this “Worlds End Lane” sign as we head to what may very well feel like the edge of the world. And doubly cool that it’s from very close to where she grew up!

Day 3: West Yellowstone ➡️ West Glacier 🚐💨

A 400+ mile driving day packed with cheap diesel, beautiful views, and one unfortunate bird encounter 🪶🫣

Driving along Flathead Lake was easily the highlight and it made the long hours behind the wheel so worth it.

This Potter was very happy to go back to Hogwarts today, September 1.
