We want to take a minute and highlight our incredible puppetry producer and lead performer, @mander_mudduck_puppeterer who led the way for this talented and wonderful team. Our wrangler, @rachelmadestudio knocked it out of the park in prep and on the day, keeping our little puppet world in line. And thank you to our entire cast of performers, builders and everyone else who helped us out along the way! @makersaurusrex, @vyerrid, @c.papalexis, @joelsantosmusic, @jonathankite @oliveraberger, @johncodystuff & @rikemind. Special shoutout to @leesacks for helping coordinate and the great and powerful @fred.beshid for getting us the @bobbakermarionettes theater 🎭

This work is not easy and deserves so much praise for making this film sing the way it does with grace and humor and beauty.

I'm passing on the announcement of a fantastic art opening if you're in the Los Angeles area! (Pssst I'm serving the wine and cheese)

The show's opening reception at North Figueroa Bookshop will be held February 7 from 3pm to 7pm. See you there!

The Museum of Fred was established in 2000 by Fred Beshid to promote awareness of the contributions made by amateur artists to American cultural heritage. The paintings in the collection were primarily purchased from thrift stores in the greater Los Angeles area.

The collection is a celebration of the diversity of Southern California and the potential of art to express our common humanity.

Developed over a period of more than thirty years, the collection foregrounds amateur artistic production and offers insight into the cultural diversity of Southern California. As an early experiment in online curation, MOF has been the subject of discussion in both academic scholarship and media discourse, and has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered and CBC’s Freestyle radio programs.

Fred Beshid is a Los Angeles–based novelist, artist, curator, and filmmaker. He is the creator of the award-winning Museum of Fred, an online museum dedicated to his collection of thrift-store paintings, and a co-founder of Random Gallery, where he curated numerous contemporary art exhibitions. In addition to his creative practice, he has worked extensively as a volunteer arts administrator and has served on the boards of directors of the Foundation for Art Resources, Phoneme Media, and the Bob Baker Marionette Theater. He has also acted as an advisor to Machine Project, the Vidiots Foundation, and various public art initiatives. He holds degrees in fine arts from Pasadena City College and California State University, Northridge. by @fred.beshid

Hello friends! In case you haven’t heard - North Fig Bookshop is expanding! We’re partnering with Unnamed Press and Rare Bird Lit writer and North Fig booster Fred Beshid to curate our new Citizen’s Brigade Art Hall (CBAH), a community-focused art gallery that will be part of our expanded bookshop space. Here’s Fred in front of our new door, the future connection point between our old and new spaces...

Big thanks to everyone who has already donated to our fundraising campaign! We’re excited for more events in the new space, plus collaborations with local artists and art orgs. And of course...more books! Please support the store with a donation if you can. Link in bio. by @fred.beshid
