The hand is the controller.

Kinect reads the room in depth, we pull the hand as a live XYZ point, feed it into a Particle #SOP as a force, and thousands of particles respond in real time, scatter on an open palm, gather on a closed one! Nothing is pre-rendered, there's no video file. The image only exists while someone is moving!

Where it belongs: expo booths, conference openers, museum galleries, festival stages, product launches, fan zones. All of those rooms currently run a looped video and a loop can't answer you.

The kanga has been carrying messages here for over a century, We just gave it light.

For generations on this coast, women have used the kanga to say what could not be said aloud, a proverb printed on cloth, worn in public, read by everyone who needed to read it. The kanga was carrying messages long before any of us owned a projector, it was never just fabric, it was a medium.

So at #masharikicreativeeconomicexpo2026 , organized by @cdeatz we mapped light onto surfaces that were already speaking: a kanga, an ngoma, a Taifa Stars jersey, and a dera.

There's an easy habit of borrowing someone else's format to tell our own stories. A screen, an LED wall, a template designed somewhere far from here.

We keep asking a simpler question: what if the story stays on the object it came from? Singeli, born on our streets, A national team that started with a rag ball in the dust and 120 communities becoming one.

Tanzania has a big few years ahead, Expos, festivals, and in 2027, AFCON. The world is coming to look at us, The question is who gets to hold the projector.

Where is our architecture?

Not the buildings we inherited. The ones that look like us, built from our earth, shaped by our hands, carrying the visual intelligence of 120+ tribes.

So we built a room where you can answer that yourself.

Put on the headset and your real room stays exactly where it is. Same walls. Same light through the window. Then the walls turn to clay, and you carve into them with your fingers.

Makonde carvings. Mkeka mats. Raffia seating. Clay pendant lanterns. You place each one where it belongs, and each one tells you the tradition it came from.

Day 2 of Mashariki Expo asked this same question out loud. African heritage interior design: our own materials and patterns as the foundation of contemporary space, not ornament sprinkled on at the end. The point made from that stage was that the building sector has been taken over by "clean architecture" that quietly forgets the clay, forgets the carving, forgets the hand.

This year we set to have 4+ exhibitions so far we have executed 2 already and had one which was in Geneva and one in our home country Dar , which is our first exhibition in the mother country which has been nothing short of blessings from the turn out to the feedback on shedding light about the ocean , the swahili culture and the corals.

The power of immersive storytelling has been evident with how people respond to our work and we hope to work with more partners locally and internationally to drive empowered African narratives to the local and global stages.

Thank you all who have been part of our first ever exhibition in Dar es Salaam , Tanzania.

‘’ The ocean connects us all ’’

From the communities that depend on it, to the storytellers, creatives, and conservationists working to protect it we are all connected by the same water.

🪸 @marineadventures__ was truly honored to be part of the ‘Just Because You Don’t See’ project by @seedexr , supporting the storytelling through community involvement and the shooting process that helped bring these unseen ocean realities to life.

🪸 Being part of the panel discussion was such an incredible honor and a reminder that conservation goes beyond science it lives in stories, people, culture, and the experiences that inspire others to care.

Because some of the most important things happening beneath the surface are often the things the world does not see. And that is exactly why we must continue telling these stories. 💙 .
