The interview took place on the event of the release of his novel, “Tallien: A Brief Romance” (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 1988).

As a student and then a professor, @frederictuten found a vibrant intellectual world at @ccnycitycollege that was unlike anything he had previously known as a poor kid from the Bronx. The parade of brilliant writers and academics he met and worked with along the way set Frederic on the road to his own intellectual life as a writer and painter.
