It’s actually my birthday today. I give thanks for the primordial water divine feminine energies that surround me and bring me peace. I give thanks for the blessings of community and love that keep me buoyant despite the onslaught of atrocities.

One of these slides is a piece I wrote about the Mississippi River. There’s video of me at my desk. Me at play. Me with a few of my dear ones. I’m in love with me and I hope you’re in love with you. Not in a self centered way but in a way where you know when and where to choose you.

Grateful to share my celebration with feast day of Oxun. Grateful to have my birthday OFF without question. If you’ve shown me love over the past few days or whenever I don’t take it for granted. We say no feeling is final. I found that grief is sitting with me in all that I do. Not always showing up as sadness or crying but it’s folded into all that I am and all that I experience. No reparations would be enough unless there can also be resurrection. The depth with which I miss my momma is immeasurable. I sound like her. I act like her. Laila has her eyes. Her sassy. My hands remind me of her. As I honor her Earthbirthday 1/21 and the transformation of her body to spirit 1/24/23 I remember her as whole and human. A lil girl and a grown ass woman. She taught me so much and I love her beyond words. This world is atrocious and I feel prepared because of the work of her heart and hands. I give thanks. Ibase 🕊️my Great Ancestor mommy.
