When I’m out taking other people on tandem paraglide flights I’m often asked if I still like to go out and fly by myself?

For me, I’ve always said if I am not having fun at what I do then maybe it’s time for a change.

So these are some shots captured by @gabrielamilara when I came out yesterday to enjoy my day off. Winds were a bit out of the north but still more than good enough to have some fun playing on my Mustache.

Many times my videos are of me doing tricks or flying fast as I like to do. But that’s not always what paragliding is to me. Many times it’s just as relaxing as can be. To be able to one minute be standing on the ground and the next feeling the freedom of the sky. Away from what weighs so many people down.

To be able to see the world through eyes that don’t wonder what it’s like to be flying above the earth, but rather than to be living it. This video I took the other day of @wanderlustengineer who has been a student learning out at @flytorrey as she is getting to know her new harness captures the beauty of what we do when the wind allows.

I truly wish for everyone to get a glimpse of what we do on a regular basis by coming on a tandem with me someday if you haven’t already. But if you never do I hope you can enjoy this.

Since flying my mustache wing I’ve got some wings that I haven’t been flying much since. So the other day figured I’d get a couple of them back in the air. This is one of them 😊.

In light of what’s happening in Guetemala right now I’m looking back on this fond memory. To be able to hike up Acatenango, spend the night watching Fuego volcano erupting, and then to get to fly off the next day is a memory I will never forget.

Currently both are closed to any activity as it seems even Acatenango is waking up.

I still hope to get another try at this someday, but if that never happens I will still be thankful I did get to do it at least once.

The other day after work luckily there was still enough wind to get out and fly with @valentindelluc for a a short session. I’ve been following him on IG for a while now and obviously impressed at what he does. So yes I was more than happy to follow him in the sky for a little bit and later hang out and chat. Hopefully more flights in the future 🤞

So many things I love about Paragliding, and you never know what special moments you might have on any given flight.

After landing in a very small town in Guetemala called Tzsunana around the Lake Atitlan I was greeted by I think just about every kid in town. They were very excited and eager to help. And although we didn’t speak the same language I’m sure we’ll all share a fun memory from that time.
