💯 100 ADAPTIVE FLIGHTS! 🪂💜🧡

Exactly a year and a half after our very first adaptive flight, we just hit #100. 🥹

One hundred times someone trusted us enough to push them off a cliff or throw them out of a perfectly good airplane. 😂 And somehow, they keep coming back.

To every participant who trusted us with your adventure: thank you. You are the reason Adaptive Impact exists.

A HUGE thank you to Torrey Pines Gliderport and GoJump Oceanside for helping us make the sky accessible.

And none of these flights happen without the incredible instructors who quite literally hold our participants’ lives in their hands.

Meet Nadeen! 🪂💜🧡

“Know that you don’t have limits.”

And today, she proved it. ✨

Nadeen is battling an autoimmune disease that is progressively taking her mobility, but it certainly hasn’t taken her sense of adventure. 💜

She came READY to fly! Not only did she paraglide, she took control of the glider and flew it herself 🙌🏼 Then, because simply flying wasn’t enough, she convinced her pilot to throw in some pretty intense spirals. 😂🌀

Turns out, Nadeen LOVES the G-force. She was up there giggling and absolutely loving every second.

This is what Adaptive Impact is all about—freedom, adventure, and discovering just how much is still possible.

Today, Nadeen didn’t just take flight.

She took the controls. 🪂🔥

Meet Gary! 🪂💜🧡

Gary’s adaptive flight came with a pretty cool story.

At the ALS San Diego Walk, where Adaptive Impact was proud to show up and support our friends in the ALS community, supporter Ylianna won an adaptive paragliding flight — and decided to gift it to her neighbor, Gary. ❤️

Gary has always been a guy who likes to MOVE. He surfed well into his 70s and has spent years mountain biking, playing pickleball, and finding ways to stay active and adventurous.

So naturally… we figured getting him in the sky was a pretty good fit. 😎🪂

Today, Gary traded the waves and trails for a few thousand feet of open sky — and got to experience a whole new kind of adventure.

We love that a flight won in support of ALS San Diego turned into an opportunity to give someone else an unforgettable experience. Huge thank you to Ylianna for paying it forward, and to Gary for trusting us to take him flying!

Adventure doesn’t have an expiration date. 💜🧡

Would your 9-year-old jump off a cliff? 😳🪂

I honestly couldn’t believe he did it.

This wasn’t something he’d been begging to try. It took a LOT of courage for him to step off that cliff and trust the instructor enough to actually do it.

His instructor was incredible and made him feel comfortable and confident every step of the way—and then… he jumped.

I’ve been doing crazy adventures his entire life, so he’s grown up watching me push myself, try new things, and occasionally do things that probably make him question my parenting choices. 😂

But watching HIM face something that scared him and come out the other side with that huge smile? That was pretty incredible.

Sometimes the best part of adventure isn’t the adrenaline. It’s watching your kids discover that they’re braver than they thought they were. ❤️

Keep showing them what’s possible. 🪂

Because one day, they might surprise you.

I’ve always wanted my son to grow up knowing that adventure doesn’t have to look one particular way. Sometimes it’s a big leap. Sometimes it’s trying something that makes your stomach flip. Sometimes it’s simply saying, “Okay… I’ll try.”

So watching him take off in a paraglider was one of those moments I know I’ll remember.

He trusted his instructor, took that leap, and suddenly… he was flying.

And maybe that’s what I want him to remember most—not just the view or the experience, but the feeling of doing something new and realizing he was capable of it.

We spend so much time trying to protect our kids from being uncomfortable.

But maybe part of raising adventurous kids is showing them that uncomfortable doesn’t always mean “don’t do it.”

Sometimes it means…

Go.

Try.

Be brave.

And see what’s on the other side. ❤️

Houston we have a problem. No sight of Artemis II and no sonic boom! Bummed about that but got to go on my very first paragliding flight with my skyfam Alex! Thanks for the ride Alex it was soothing and gut wrenching at times! 😉🫡🤣

Kathryn is living with ALS.

And still, she shows up like someone who refuses to let life be written for her.

Because ALS may try to take things…
but it doesn’t get to sit at the head of her table.

Kathryn reminds us that you don’t wait for permission to live fully.
You don’t shrink your dreams to fit your circumstances.
