As well as coaching our amazing young practitioners, Megan and I have been training hard behind the scenes... and it paid off!

After qualifying through the British Parkour Championships, we’ve been selected to represent Great Britain at the Parkour World Championships in the Czech Republic late October! 🏆

Competing on the world stage is a huge honor, but it comes with significant costs for travel, accommodation, and competition fees.

Our members-only Parkour Speed Competition is happening Sunday, October 18th. This is a fun opportunity for our students to test their skills, challenge themselves, and race the clock in a friendly environment.

Participants will get 2 timed runs through specially designed courses packed with jumps, vaults, and climbs. The fastest time counts, but watch out—penalties can be added for mistakes! Everyone walks away with a surprise goody bag, and the top 3 in each category will take home medals.

The Details:
Where: Move Urmston Leisure Centre, Bowfell Rd

Ages 6–9: Starts at 10:00 AM

Ages 10–14: Starts at 12:00 PM

Tickets: £22 per participant (this includes 1 spectator!)

💸 Early Bird Special: Book before October 5th to get discounted tickets (£20 for participants, £5 for extra spectators).

Make a day of it and bring the family to watch the action! We’ll have snacks, refreshments, and exclusive discounts on Free Spirit merch at our mini shop.

Behind every Free Spirit class is a coach who genuinely cares about helping each young person grow.

Our coaching team brings together experience, professionalism and a shared passion for movement. Our coaches are qualified, DBS checked, and trained in First Aid and Safeguarding — creating a safe and supportive environment where students can learn, challenge themselves and progress.

But great coaching is about more than qualifications. It’s about encouragement, celebrating the small wins, and helping every child discover what they’re capable of.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll introduce you to the people behind Free Spirit.

What is a parkour speed run? ⏱️

It’s about moving through an obstacle course in the fastest time possible — choosing an efficient route, linking movements and staying in control.

Our students have been practising speed runs ahead of Motion Rush, and our coaches Deni and Megan have qualified to compete in speed at the Parkour World Championships!

Meet Coach Sharma! 🌟

Sharma joined Free Spirit in 2026, bringing experience in personal training, strength and conditioning, community fitness and coaching children and adults.

She is first aid and safeguarding trained, DBS checked, and currently working towards her Parkour UK Level 1 qualification.

Outside coaching, Sharma recently placed 1st in the 40+ category and 2nd in the Mums category at an amateur bodybuilding competition! 💪

We’re excited to have her on the team.

Something spooky is happening in Sale! 👻🎃

The Pumpkin King has torn his magic spellbook into four pages and hidden them around our haunted gym. We need your young heroes to help us find the pages, beat the challenges, and break the curse before noon!

Join us for The Curse of the Pumpkin King Halloween Holiday Camp:
📅 Date: Monday, 26th October
⏰ Time: 9:00am - 12:00pm
👦👧 Ages: 6-13
📍 Venue: Ashton on Mersey High School, Sale

Over 3 action-packed hours, kids will take on Halloween-themed parkour challenges—crawling through spider webs, vaulting the haunted mansion, and racing to escape the Pumpkin King.

It’s a completely story-led session where every game builds strength, agility, and confidence.
What you need to know:

🦇 Costumes welcome! Just ensure they are safe to run, jump, and crawl in (no capes, loose accessories, or masks that block vision).
👟 Bring: Trainers, a water bottle, comfortable clothing, and a snack for our 15-minute break.
🛡️ Safety first: The haunted gym is a supervised environment. The coaches will be leading the sessions and adjusting all activities to suit every age and ability.

Student spotlight: Jay💡

Jay has been apart of Free Spirit for a number of years now, and has been a volunteer coach since May this year.

He expressed his passion for parkour by saying it is a way to express himself through movement, and challenge himself both physically and me mentally.

Jay is a fantastic role model to our younger students, and we couldn’t be prouder of his progress.
