This short piece initially stemmed from meditative slow walks—a conscious attempt to slow down, notice the minutiae of the world around us, and actively engage with it.
Earlier this year, these reflections grew into a collaboration with Alex from Frequency Diagnostics at one of his gong bath events, using some of the spoken-word elements you hear here alongside the distinct, resonant frequencies of his gongs.
This video features a snippet of the work I originally produced for Sally Child’s ZlideSpeekSho. Take a breath, turn the sound up preferably with headphones and dive into the details with me. #experimentalsound

Just received some beautiful shots from a session I played a few days ago — welcoming in spring/summer in E17 at this year’s first Fellowship Square full moon yoga and gong bath. It was a real pleasure sharing the space with @hermione_yoga at this great community event put together by the brilliant @eastofeden17 Thank you Abby for the opportunity — the perfect way to bring in the new season. ☀️ by @frequency_diagnostics

Don’t turn around lest ye become a pillar of salt. In life we must pass the time. Some did some things. Others did other things. SsingSsing (Hangul: 씽씽) was a South Korean band that fused Korean folk music with genres including glam rock, disco, and psychedelic rock. The band formed in 2010, and gained international attention in 2017 after performing on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts and at Globalfest at Webster Hall. The band’s six members include traditional singer Lee Hee-moon and music director Jang Young-gyu. SsingSsing ended in October, 2018 and Lee Hee-moon has said “But it is a project band that has disbanded. I loved being a part of it, but as of now, I do not have a plan to do it again.”

... this live video of “𝗜 𝗮𝗺 (𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀),” filmed by 𝗘𝗻𝗶𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂 @warmdefeat at the Zig Zag Club in Berlin in 2023, vividly captures the physicality of Ben LaMar Gay’s performances in person. In what has become somewhat of a signature of his live show, Gay and his quartet stand and improvise with hand bells (the kind you may have seen/heard in church) in between acapella call and response vocals, then lock into a cascading, canonized melody played in formation on the hand bells by three of the four musicians, just moments before drummer 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶 catches the audience by surprise with a heavy backbeat under the looping bell line. Still on the bells, Gay leads his musicians in a few more lines of call and response, before tuba from 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀 jumps in with Moretti on a thick brass bassline, fit for the club. by @frequency_diagnostics
