Crafting thoughtful copy that hits home and fuels your business further + sharing more thoughts on life between the lines at @leezawrites ☕
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
There's a reason we're called homo sapiens. The word "sapiens" comes from the Latin word for "wise" or "discerning."

Yet, sometimes it feels like no matter how much we've learned, self-doubt has a funny way of convincing us that we STILL don't know enough to take the next step in our business.

As a self-proclaimed information-gathering enthusiast, I'm all too familiar with this cycle. That's also why I've been challenging myself to break it by taking action before I feel even 80% ready.

Coffee's on me if you can be the first to guess what I recently said YES to (despite that little voice in my head telling me I wasn't qualified to talk about a topic I've been living and breathing for over a year).

Spoiler alert: it has to do with the next guest speaker at the Virtual AMA Café in November 👀 taken in Duluth, Minnesota by @freshlybrewedcopy

The way I can’t get enough of clients who equally see the value of investing in website copy AND design that work hand in hand to tell one cohesive story.

Because when your copy is thoughtfully crafted with design in mind, your website doesn’t just invite people in; it makes them want to settle in and scroll awhile. And get in touch to work with you, of course.

On that note, here’s a sneak peek of a site from the brew queue for @nedaziadarchitects in collaboration with @nabana.studio, that feels more like a scroll-worthy invitation. taken in Duluth, Minnesota by @freshlybrewedcopy

It can be tempting to trade untangling your messy thoughts for a quick, polished win that sounds like an echo of you.

But this convenience comes with hidden debt. The kind that slowly weakens your ability to think critically, come up with original ideas, and have ownership over what you've written.

If you’re in disbelief, check out MIT Media Lab’s study, Your Brain on ChatGPT, and start paying closer attention to what happens to your mind the more you rely on AI to write.

What’s even worse is that when you don't take time to think outside the bot, you’re slowly teaching your subconscious that it can’t trust or count on you to solve problems.

So, next time you’re tempted to skip the discomfort of finding the ‘right words,’ do yourself a favor and wrestle with the ‘wrong ones’ first. taken in Duluth, Minnesota by @freshlybrewedcopy

Maybe it’s all the nostalgia in the air, but I miss when we had more in-person coffees than virtual ones, long form captions written by humans held weight, and intro posts were still a thing.

While I spend most of my time helping others tell their story, it felt like a good time to go back to the beginning and share a little of mine.

If you’re new around here, I’m Leeza, aka the co-owner of FBC with my hubs, Todd, and an all-in copywriter for founders who care deeply about making a real impact in the lives of the people they serve.

Or, as one of my clients recently put it, “her emotional support copywriter” 🤭

Before starting my business in 2020, I spent a decade writing for brands like maurices, Scruples Professional Salon Products, and Jared Allen's Homes for Wounded Warriors, just to name a few.

And before that? Let's just say, I was an introverted teen who never felt quite like she fit in, writing poetry (I bet my mom still has in a box somewhere), and mixing up idioms because immigrating to America at the age of 7 from Belarus with zero English will do that to ya 🇧🇾

Some days, I still feel like that 17-year-old version of myself. But other days, I know she’d be proud of who we’re becoming.

Speaking of becoming, I recently started working on my first book of poems and learning to figure skate.

Even though I'm a homebody at heart, I feel more at home in the woods. I love me a good farmer’s market, plant, and book haul. And I prefer my coffee the same way I like my copy: thoughtfully crafted by real humans 🫶🏼

But like I said before, I spend most of my time helping others tell their stories. So, tell me something about YOURS that most people don't know below.

Raise your mug if you’re tired of winging it in your business ☕️

Between juggling emails, growing to-do lists, and the copy you still have to write, you’re also trying to figure out the best platform for your new website, how to manage it all as you grow, and why that stylish thrifted office chair you just got is suddenly hurting your back.

Next thing you know, you’re one too many tabs deep—wishing there was just one place with the answers.

That’s exactly why I created the Resource Corner, aka the go-to for helping you run your business with more ease (and less stress). Plus a few extras that’ll make you want to cozy up at your desk and find your flow.

I’ll be the first to admit, outsourcing your website copy isn’t a small investment.

But it is one with serious after-value for your business.

Case in point, a recent client told me she’s STILL pulling lines from the Brand Alignment Guide we created together as part of her website copy project to confidently talk about her mindset coaching business…one year later.

If that's not the goal, I don't know what is.

When we partner together, you walk away with a website that fuels your business further AND words you can easily carry with you into sales calls, networking events, or, in the case of my client, an impromptu conversation inside of an Apple store that turned into a lead when she least expected it (all because she already had the words in her back pocket).

Ready to stop second-guessing how you talk about your business and write the next chapter of your story? There's no time like the present to go all in. taken in Duluth, Minnesota by @freshlybrewedcopy

If you don’t know how to show up as a brand right now, this is your gentle reminder to show up as a human.

And by that I mean…

You’re allowed to pause and collect your thoughts.
You’re allowed to trade in screen light for sunlight.
You’re allowed to lean on God and turn to prayer.
You’re allowed to quietly show up for your community.
You’re allowed to publicly speak up for what you believe in.

But most importantly, you’re allowed to show up as a human that’s still trying to figure out how to navigate the uncertainty of it all. taken in Duluth, Minnesota by @freshlybrewedcopy

Since day one, my business love language has always been making sure clients feel genuinely taken care of.

From thoughtfully crafted brand messaging and website copy written with design in mind to celebrating clients along the way, one of my favorite ways to wrap up a project is to send out client care packages.

Because behind every project is another person trusting this little creative copywriting studio with their vision, their story, and their dreams—and that’s something Todd and I will never, ever take for granted. taken in Duluth, Minnesota by @freshlybrewedcopy

Wishing you a holiday week full of gratitude, joy, and rest that feels like one deep exhale 🫶🏼

No matter what’s still on your plate, I hope you find moments to ground yourself in how far you’ve come, carve out time to fill up your cup, and step away from the screen whenever you can.

Unless, of course, your screen is currently featuring holiday movies on repeat, a good Kindle read, or FaceTiming your people…then carry on 🤓

As for my hubs, me, and Finn, we’ll be giving extra thanks for the quiet ways God keeps guiding us through every season, walking off alllll the pumpkin pie on our favorite trails, and showing some love to the small businesses right here in our community. taken in Duluth, Minnesota by @freshlybrewedcopy

This month marks our fifth year in business (nobody pinch me), and honestly, I’m not sure what’s more impressive: hitting this milestone or getting Todd to be a good sport and pose for this shot 😉

All kidding aside, I’m endlessly grateful for the talented business owners who’ve trusted this small business with their big dreams, workships that have turned into friendships, and the supportive business community that continues to inspire us to keep going.

If I had to sum up my 5 biggest takeaways from growing this business over the past few years, it really comes down to:

1. Having faith in the process
2. Keeping your word (and overdelivering in unexpected ways)
3. Building meaningful relationships
4. Creating more than you compare
5. Staying curious, humble, and flexible
6. Making time to fill up your cup
7. Embracing the ebbs and flows

Okay, that was technically 7…so you know, I was serious about the overdelivering part 🙌🏼

If you think you’re just getting website words that work hard for you around the clock when you invite me into your copy corner…think again.

Because when we work together on your website, you’re getting a caring thought partner who’s ALL in to help you fuel your business further.

Someone who takes time to understand your lofty vision, helps you think outside the box (and bot), and continues to cheer you on long after your new website goes live.

In other words, here’s what you're really gaining:

➜ Space and support to reflect on your journey, reconnect with the why behind your work, and intentionally map out what makes the most sense for the kind of business and life you ultimately crave.

➜ Clarity on what sets you apart, your voice, and audience—backed by my Messaging Alignment Guidebook with *real* customer interviews, market research, and psychology-rooted brand archetypes from Carl Jung.

➜ Alignment to ensure your copy and design work together in harmony at every touchpoint and reflect the intentional experience you want your customers to have on your site and beyond.

➜ Courage to step into your next chapter and sell your value from a place of alignment, ease, and grounded confidence without the constant pull of fear, comparison, or doubt tripping you up.

➜ Calm that feels like an exhale and naturally comes from having a sustainable foundation that allows you to finally run your business without it constantly running you to the ground.

So, if you’re craving more than just website copy that clicks, consider this your personal invite to schedule a complimentary virtual coffee chat with yours truly. taken in Duluth, Minnesota by @freshlybrewedcopy
