Yesterdays bike lane removal protest. Doug Ford once upon a time supported bike lanes, he even agreed they help keep cyclists safe. He has now ordered the removal of bike lanes in the City costing tax payers an estimated $48 million dollars. Bike lanes help keep kids and adult cyclists safe on the streets of Toronto. This $48 million could have been used to help our bleeding healthcare system. Scenes from today’s defence of bike lanes. Construction crews have packed up, replacing plastic bollards before they left. Our disruptions are slowing them down. Thank you to today’s heroes. The fight continues - destruction is still scheduled tomorrow 6am to 4pm. by @fridaysforfutureto

@allianceverdicivil Is so ashamed of themselves that they are covering the logos on their signs. By destroying safe streets, they are contributing to future road violence, severe injuries, and death.

The only real outcome of all this destruction is that people will be hurt and killed in car crashes that would have been prevented. Families and hearts and bodies will be shattered.

Last night, we loudly but calmly said no to the removal of bike lanes. ATS Traffic was sent in to close lanes for removal crews and we firmly stood in their way to say, "not tonight". When they left we chanted, "get home safe"...because this is about safety!

We anticipate a more robust response tonight from authorities and colder temperatures. We are asking cyclists to show up at 6pm at Tom Riley Park Bloor Green P to amass and await organizer instructions.
