A youth-led grassroots movement fighting for a just future for all, because climate justice is social justice.

Protesters came out again on Wednesday for the second night of milling and paving along the 1 km stretch of Bloor Street West between Islington and Royal York. A peaceful die-in was held in front of the “Blood Bikes” sculpture before police moved participants along. Buoyed by misleading social media posts, Toronto Police Service continues to waste resources to accelerate the removal of life-saving infrastructure.

This time, police wore PPE (good) and catch basins were covered (also good), confirming that the previous night’s work wasn’t done according to protocol. Verdi Alliance continues to obscure their vehicles and has shuttered their social media accounts, indicative of their shame of being involved in the province's reckless and arbitrary scheme.

The last of the physical infrastructure is gone. Over the coming days, crews will restripe the road to restore the car lanes. Who will Premier Ford and Minister Sarkaria blame when traffic doesn't improve remains to be seen.

18 km of bike lanes targeted by the province still remain. Removal of those lanes wouldn't start until spring 2027 at the earliest, pending RFP submissions. Cycle Toronto has asked the Supreme Court of Canada to hear our case, and we should have news ahead of any future deconstructions. The rest of Bloor, Yonge, and University are safe for now.

For now, we’re advising supporters to cease organized protests during the road work. It's time to rest and regroup.

The past ten days have been a whirlwind. Everyone should be incredibly proud of how we peacefully and lawfully resisted together. The city, the province, and the world are watching.

We're not done.

Election day is coming up, and even with this unprecedented provincial interference, your vote matters.

Peaceful die-in happening right now to defend the Bloor bike lanes.

The level of aggression and hostility exhibited by Toronto Police towards people defending safe infrastructure has steadily increased over the last week of bike lane removal protests. TPS has continually threatened and handed out criminal charges to peaceful protestors. This isn't new, but it's application to bike lane protests lays bear just how ridiculous and chilling their behaviour is.

We stand united against the removal of safe infrastructure and for the safety of our fellow road users and loved ones.

All of the Constable Chris Watsons' in the world won't scare or deter us. This is life and death.

All out tonight. 7pm @ Tom Riley Park Green P.

This is a gross mischaracterization of the events of the past week, and deliberately intended to intimidate lawful protests against the removal of life-saving infrastructure.

TASK HAZARDS:
Airborne Dust
High Level Noise

Did MTO and Verdi Alliance tell residents
and businesses to close their windows?

Or advise the police to wear PPE?

Last night people on bikes stood up against the destruction of safe infrastructure. Tonight, we will return to bear witness and protest decisions that put the public at risk. They will try to take out the last intact lane markings tonight.

Join us at 7pm at Tom Riley Park Bloor Green P. Bring PPE (N95 or better), earplugs as the construction is toxic.

Be aware that riot police and bike cops are becoming increasingly aggressive.

Strength in numbers.

4 people have been arrested and require criminal lawyers, daily protests would benefit from snacks and hot coffee, future "creative" protests require funding! The Biking Lawyer LLP along with organizers will administer the fund and assure 100% of donations go to people standing up in the street to defend our safe infrastructure.

Be among the first 50 or so people to donate and get a free hi vis vest (just send an email to info@thebikinglawyer.ca with proof of donation - no min amount). We will have one at our office ready for you.

Deconstruction protests resume Monday, October 19 at 6am.

Toronto Police Services have been lowering the threshold for detaining and arrests, especially women and non-binary protesters.

Stay safe. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
