📎🌹 PERFORMER SPOTLIGHT: FAXTRA LARQ 🌹📎

What happens when remembrance gets a little dangerous?

For FRIGID Nightcap: DAY OF THE DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING, Faxtra Larq brings us RECuerdos — a dance and burlesque performance created as an ode to the loved ones who have passed away.

There’s a chair.

There are flower petals.

And eventually, there is a staple gun.

Tenderness, memory, the body, and just enough “should she be doing that?” energy to make it unmistakably Nightcap.

💀🌺 A NON-BINARY CATRINA QUEEN IS DESCENDING ON THE EAST VILLAGE.

Meet Criis Vega and Skelita Calaveras, Queen of Mictlán.

In Catrina Folklórica, Criis blends musical theatre with Mexican folkloric dance traditions from Oaxaca and Veracruz, following Skelita on a journey through the underworld, transformation, and ultimately the throne of Mictlán.

It’s theatrical. It’s rooted in Mexican cultural tradition. It’s queer. It’s alive.

And for FRIGID Nightcap: DAY OF THE DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING, it lands right at the heart of what we’ve been asking all month:

What do we inherit?
What do we transform?
What do we carry forward—and make our own?

Catch Criis Vega live as part of FRIGID’s Days of the Dead festival:

🦸🏽‍♂️ MEET THE MEXICAN-AMERICAN SUPERHERO COMING TO THE EAST VILLAGE.

This Halloween weekend, !HERMANO JUSTICE! lands at FRIGID Nightcap.

Created and performed by Emiliano Reyna, !HERMANO JUSTICE! follows an ordinary young man who becomes a blue-spandex, luchador-masked superhero armed with a suspiciously familiar shield, a mission to find his missing father—and live electric guitar from Mauricio Bernal.

He’s going to find the Avengers.
He’s going to save the world.

He just has to make sure his mom doesn’t need him home first.

Part superhero origin story, part Mexican-American family story, and part collision between the stories we inherit and the heroes we invent for ourselves, this is exactly the kind of live theatre weirdness we want at DAY OF THE DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING.

Flying over the streets that made me 💃🕺🎭

Except the streets are actually a tiny black-box theatre under St. Marks Place and somehow that explains a lot.

FRIGID Nightcap is NYC’s weirdest late-night variety show: drag, burlesque, comedy, music, theatre, dance, performance art, and whatever else happens when you put a bunch of downtown artists in a basement and give them a stage.

If your ideal NYC night out is:

✨ a little theatrical
💋 a little queer
🎭 a little unhinged
🍸 very East Village

…you may have found your people.

Our next show is DAY OF THE DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING

Things to say to your ancestors:

“So… this is what you left us?” 💀

This Halloween weekend, FRIGID Nightcap takes over UNDER St. Marks for DAY OF THE DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING — a queer, late-night NYC variety show about inheritance, unfinished business, memory, survival, and what the hell we’re supposed to do with everything the people before us left behind.

Expect drag, burlesque, comedy, music, theatre, performance art, and downtown chaos in the heart of the East Village.

Some things deserve to be remembered.
Some things deserve another life.
Some things should probably stay buried.

The dead had their day.

Tonight is ours.

You’re walking down St. Marks Place on a Friday night.

You pass the bars. The tattoo shops. The ghosts of a thousand questionable decisions.

Then you head underground.

💀🌹 FRIGID NIGHTCAP: DAY OF THE DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING 🌹💀

Part late-night variety show. Part downtown fever dream. Part celebration of everybody who’s still here, still queer, and not done yet.

This October, as part of @frigidnewyork’s Days of the Dead festival, we’re bringing together drag, comedy, burlesque, music, theatre, dance, performance art, and whatever glorious weirdness refuses to stay buried.

The theme: everything we inherit from the people who came before us—and what we’re going to do with it while it’s our turn.

What do we keep?
What do we bury?
What refuses to die?
What are we leaving behind?

Come find out what happens under St. Marks after dark.

🌹💀 THE DEAD HAVE THEIR DAY. THE NIGHT BELONGS TO THE LIVING. 💀🌹

This October, FRIGID Nightcap joins FRIGID’s Days of the Dead festival with:

DAY OF THE DEAD, NIGHT OF THE LIVING
Still here. Still queer. Not done.

We inherit more than names, stories, and old photographs.

We inherit traditions. Debts. Dreams. Systems. Wounds. Art. Struggles. Unfinished business.

For a little while, all of it is in our hands.

So what do we keep?
What do we repair?
What do we bury for good?
What do we refuse to let die?
And what are we leaving behind for whoever comes next?

On Friday, October 30 at 9:30 PM, Nightcap turns UNDER St. Marks into a late-night celebration of inheritance, memory, survival, possession, urgency, and the strange responsibility of being alive right now.

Expect the usual glorious collision of drag, comedy, burlesque, music, dance, theatre, performance art, and downtown weirdness—all circling one very simple fact:

Eventually, we become somebody else’s ancestors.

But not yet.

We’re still here.
