We’re keeping it local with these beautiful fall fabrics, designed by San Diego-based artist Ainara Calahorra of @muxu.creations. 🌼

All four prints come from her “Blooming” collection, which started as watercolors painted on walks around North Park. Each design celebrates a local plant like Bush Anemone (Carpenteria californica), Silk Oak (Grevillea robusta), and California Brittlebush (Encelia californica).

In Ainara’s words, the collection is “an invitation to look again at what is already growing around us.”

San Diego Autumn hits different. The leaves aren’t quite as brilliant (although they’re here), the nip in the air is more subtle, and the smokey smell that floats in around sundown is usually from someone’s barbeque, not a chimney. But when you live in a place “without seasons,” you get attuned to the subtle signals each one brings. Fall here means golden sunsets and yellow hills, moss growing on granite near the local creek, and a faint scent of pinion. It means rock collecting and bonfires on the beach. I guess that’s our version of pumpkin spice, and it’s darn cozy.

This season, we’re putting together “Vibe Trays” (credit to @kellywearstler for the phrase) that capture our version of fall, complete with some recommended fabrics and notions to complement your sewing projects. What are you working on this season? 🍂

It’s officially Autumn, and the perfect time to take a quick look back on some of your summer makes! First up: a chic polka dot camisole by @pr11s_arch, embellished with our deadstock French lace (peep those front and back details—perfection!).

@kjpaints made the Matchy Matchy Sewing Club Sunny Side Tank with a peplum from a Merchant & Mills scrap she found at the shop, alongside ticking from our friends at @coopersfabrics

@sewmakeityours transformed her daughter’s too-short Old Navy watermelon top into the cutest little dress using our organic cotton double gauze. Heck yeah, upcycling!

@lladybird made the @noodlehead531 Sandhill Sling and topped it off with a @unionmade tiger patch from the shop. Rawr! by @fringefabrics_sd

Speaking of @fableism daisies, how cute is this dress by @sewmakeityours? Kjarstin’s little girl grew out of it, so she generously offered to let us display it at the shop. I love having this sample on the floor because highlights fabric and shows how it holds up over time—including multiple washes and general kid wear-and-tear. Thanks for letting us show off your beautiful work, Kjarstin! 💕 by @fringefabrics_sd
