Hey there! 👋 I’m Carrie - my husband, Dale and I created Park Seed’s Seed to Spoon app!

We first started gardening back in 2015 in our Oklahoma City backyard. We were overwhelmed at first and wished there was an app to help us… so we decided to build one for ourselves!

We’re now raising 6 kids, lots of plants, and quite a few animals too! We’re passionate about making gardening simple, fun, and accessible for everyone!

If you’re new here, we’re so glad you found us! 💚
We share tips, tools, and inspiration to help you grow food - no matter your space or experience!

And if you haven’t already - check out our Seed to Spoon app! It’s the tool we wish we had when we first started!!

Let me know if you have any questions - I’m always here to help! Also, be sure to join us live every Tuesday at 12pm CST on our YouTube channel answering questions and chatting all things gardening!

🌸 Want to keep your mums blooming beautifully all season long? Here’s a super simple trick!

Just pinch off those faded, spent blooms! 🌼 This is called deadheading, and it helps your mums put their energy into new flowers instead of producing seeds. Plus, it keeps your plants looking fresh, full, and gorgeous! 😍

It only takes a few minutes, and it’s one of the easiest ways to give your fall flowers a little extra love! 🍂

Are you growing mums yet in your garden?

I used to think Swiss chard was gross... 😅

I loved the colors, but every time I tried it, it tasted so bitter! I couldn’t understand why people loved growing it.

Then I gave it another try harvesting it in cooler weather... and I actually found I liked it! 🌱

That was what changed my mind! Now Bright Lights Swiss chard is one of my favorites in the garden. And just look at those pink stems! 😍

Sometimes it’s worth giving a vegetable a second chance!

What’s a vegetable you thought you didn’t like... until you grew it yourself? 👇

🥬 TIP TUESDAY! 🥬

Did you know you can harvest lettuce from the same plant over and over again?! 🙌

One of my favorite things about growing lettuce is that you don’t have to harvest the whole plant at once! Just pick the outer leaves and leave the center growing. As long as the plant stays healthy and conditions are right, it’ll keep producing fresh leaves for you to enjoy all season! 💚

More lettuce, less replanting, and fresh salads straight from the garden! 🥗😍

Who else loves growing their own lettuce?! 🙋‍♀️

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how BEAUTIFUL kohlrabi is?! 😍💜🌱

Seriously, this is one of my absolute favorite vegetables to grow! This gorgeous Konstance Kohlrabi from @parkseedco looks like something straight out of another planet, and I just can’t get enough of it! 👽💚

If you’ve never tried kohlrabi, you’re missing out! It has a delicious, mild, slightly sweet flavor with a satisfying crunch, almost like a cross between broccoli stems and a sweet turnip. It’s amazing eaten raw, roasted, sautéed, or tossed into salads!

And one of the BEST things about growing kohlrabi? It’s FAST! Many varieties are ready to harvest in just 45–60 days, making it an awesome addition to your spring or fall garden. Plus, the leaves are edible too!

Beautiful, delicious, easy to grow, AND quick to harvest?! What’s not to love?! 😍

💚 Have you ever grown or eaten kohlrabi? I’d love to know what you think of it!

Wondering how these PVC hoop houses hold up in the wind? 💨

This is a pretty normal windy day here in Oklahoma, and you can see they’re doing just fine!

We’ve used this setup for years through some seriously strong winds and storms without having one blow away. The plastic is secured to a strip of wood along the bottom, and the entire top is attached to the raised bed with hinges, so everything stays in place.

Could a tornado take it out? Absolutely. 😂 But at that point, my hoop house is probably the least of my concerns.

For regular Oklahoma wind and storms though? These have held up amazingly well for us!

My luffa plant has officially gone WILD! 😂

I’ve been growing luffas every year for probably 8 years now, and they’re actually one of the first things I was really excited to grow when I started gardening! But I’ve never had one grow quite like THIS!

It’s completely covered TWO of my arch trellises, and apparently that wasn’t enough because now it’s climbing about 20 feet up into a nearby tree! 🌳🤣

And there are flowers and actual luffas growing way up there!

I’ve had luffas climb into trees before, but this is on a whole different level! I’m honestly not sure how I’m going to harvest those up there. I may just have to wait until the end of the season and pull the whole vine down!

This is definitely going to be interesting, so stay tuned! 😂

Have you ever grown luffas? What’s the craziest place yours have climbed?

Sometimes the best garden treats are the ones we forgot to harvest! 🥒🐷😂

I was out working in the garden and found a couple of cucumbers that were WAY past their prime. Luckily, we have someone who was more than happy to take care of them for us!

Our pigs love wandering around, munching on grass, and helping with a little garden cleanup, but she was especially excited about this treat!

I think it’s safe to say she approves! 😂

Anyone else have animals that love getting treats from the garden?

My sweet potato vines have officially taken over the garden! 😂🍠🌿

We made the mistake of planting our sweet potatoes in a @smartpots a little too close to the garden entrance, and now I can barely walk through my own garden! 😂 These vines are EVERYWHERE!

But honestly, I can’t wait to see what’s growing underneath all that craziness! These are Georgia Jet sweet potatoes from @parkseedco , and in the past, they’ve produced some of the BIGGEST sweet potatoes I’ve ever seen. And they taste absolutely incredible! 😍

With this much vine growth, I’m really hoping we’ve got some monsters hiding in there! 🤞🍠

Have you grown sweet potatoes this year? Are yours taking over everything too?! 😂

My luffa is flowering up a storm right now! 🌼🐝 I’m crossing my fingers that we’ll get a few more mature luffas before our first frost!

But here’s something you might not know… you can actually EAT luffa!

When harvested young and tender, luffa can be cooked and eaten just like summer squash! So even if some of these little guys don’t have enough time to grow into sponges, they definitely won’t go to waste!

Did you know luffa was edible? 🌱
