Fall skincare hacks I wish everyone knew, especially necessary for sensitive, eczema-prone skin 🍁 dry weather means it's time to be proactive to keep the eczema flares at bay:

1. 🚿 The 3-minute rule: Moisturize within 3 minutes of stepping out of the shower to help lock in hydration.
2. 🧴 It's officially thick cream season: Trade your lightweight lotions for rich, fragrance-free creams in jars or tubs.
3. 🛁 Less heat, less itch: Keep your showers short (5–10 minutes) and keep the water lukewarm. Your skin barrier will thank you.
4. 🎃 Pumpkin spice may belong in your latte, but not your body wash: Skip the seasonal scents and stick to fragrance-free cleansers.
5. 🧤 Hand cream is a handbag essential: Keep one by every sink and another small tube in your bag. Apply after every handwash.
6. 💊 Get ahead of the flare: Check your prescription refills now so you're not scrambling when your eczema acts up.
7. 🧶 Your cozy sweater shouldn't make you itchy: Ditch scratchy wool in favor of soft, breathable fabrics like cotton.
8. 💨 Wake your humidifier from hibernation: As the heat comes on and indoor air gets drier, a humidifier can help keep your skin more comfortable.

my take on wedding skin prep 💍🤍

Everyone needs a solid skincare routine, personalized to their skin, budget, and how much time they’re willing to spend on it each day. That’s the ice cream 🍨

The toppings? Totally customizable!

Whether you’re looking to improve uneven skin tone, texture, acne scars, fine lines, the appearance of pores, skin laxity, or just want an overall refresh, these are all things you can discuss with your dermatologist!

For my own wedding, I got Botox, a VI Peel on my face + chest, and one microneedling session focused on my forehead.

If I were doing it again, I'd give myself enough time for a series of 3 peels + 3 microneedling sessions. Depending on your skin and goals, a series of treatments can give you better results than a single session.

My biggest piece of advice? START EARLY! You’ll have more time to figure out what your skin actually needs, space out treatments, and give your skin plenty of time to recover before the big day 💒

your 7-day skin reset starts NOW! 🪞🫧

you don’t need a 12-step skincare routine or a whole new shelf of products to start taking better care of your skin (and hair!)

daily little habits can make a big difference, IF you're consistent. think clean pillowcases, silk and satin for less friction on your hair, protecting your skin from the sun, and actually getting enough sleep 😴

the rain couldn’t keep me away from @skinofcolorupdate this weekend ☔️

it was such a wonderful weekend catching up with old friends, meeting new colleagues, and learning from some of the best in dermatology!!

the lectures were phenomenal. I also loved getting to watch live demonstrations of chemical peels, biostimulators, hyaluronic acid fillers, and more.

feeling inspired and excited to bring what I’ve learned back to my patients. what a way to kick off October 👻🫧 taken in New York, New York by @fromyourderm

I can’t be the only one who finds plain water SO boring 😭💧

these are my little tricks for making it more exciting (and actually drinking enough of it):

🥥 for coconut water, I love @harmlessharvest. the 32 oz bottle lasts me at least a week, so when I say a splash, I really mean a splash!!

🍷for pomegranate juice, I'm partial to @lakewoodorganic

these little additions have some perks beyond taste: chia seeds add fiber + plant-based omega-3s, coconut water has electrolytes, pomegranate juice is rich in antioxidants, and lemon adds a little vitamin C.

bonus points for drinking out of glass instead of plastic ✨

anyone else struggle with plain water?? tell me your tricks! taken in New York, New York by @fromyourderm

technically, all acne has a hormonal component. androgens tell your oil glands to make sebum, which is one of the key factors involved in acne.

BUT when we say “hormonal acne,” we usually mean acne that is especially influenced by hormonal fluctuations or androgen sensitivity. this can look like cyclical breakouts, often along the jawline.

oral spironolactone, certain birth control pills, & topical winlevi are helpful treatment options!

**please consult a board-certified physician to see what treatment options are right for your skin. this is general education, not medical advice** 💛 taken in New York, New York by @fromyourderm

8 skincare habits for healthier skin this fall from a derm 🍂

1. 🙅‍♀️ Keep your hands off your face: Especially if you’re touching, picking, or squeezing without even realizing it.
2. 💦 Rinse off after a sweaty workout: Letting sweat, oil, and occlusive workout clothes sit on your skin can contribute to irritation and breakouts.
3. 🛏️ Clean your pillowcase: Especially if you’re acne-prone, oily, or use a lot of hair products.
4. 🚿 Keep showers short + lukewarm: Your skin barrier hates a steaming-hot 25-minute shower every day.
5. 🧴 Give irritated skin a break: More actives are NOT always the answer. If your skin is burning, peeling, or angry, your skin is begging you to simplify.
6. 📱 Stop chasing every skincare trend: Your skin does not need to participate in everything you see online!
7. 🧽 Stop using loofahs: They can be irritating, difficult to keep clean, and are absolutely not necessary for getting your body clean. Use your hands instead.
8. 🔁 Be consistent with the routine you already own: Most good skincare takes weeks to months to show you what it can actually do.

comedonal acne? inflammatory acne? chest + back acne? scarring? let's discuss 👏 all the major acne medications explained in <40 secs

OTC ingredients, prescription topical retinoids, clindamycin + benzoyl peroxide, doxycycline, accutane… they all can play a role in treatment.

the “best” treatment depends on what your acne actually looks like. so make an appointment with a derm to create a routine tailored to your skin 🤍

healthy skin habits that cost exactly $0 🍂 because some of the most underrated things you can do for your skin are completely free:

1. 🍬 Minimize added sugar: You don’t need to cut out dessert completely, but consistently high-glycemic diets may worsen acne in some people.
2. 🛑 Stop picking your skin: Every squeeze can mean more inflammation, longer healing time, and a higher chance of discoloration or scarring.
3. 😊 Smile > frown: Mostly bc life is better this way, but repetitive facial movements do contribute to expression lines over time.
4. 😴 Get 7–8 hours of sleep: Your skin barrier and overall health appreciate a good night’s sleep.
5. 🚶‍♀️ Move your body regularly: Regular movement is good for your overall health, which includes your skin. Just make sure rinse off asap after a super sweaty workout.
6. 🧘‍♀️ Manage stress however you can: Stress can triggers many skin conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis, and even trigger hair shedding.
7. 🫦 Don’t lick your lips: It may feel soothing for approx two seconds, but it leaves them even drier afterwards.
8. 🚿 Keep showers short + lukewarm: Long, hot showers can strip your skin of its natural oils and leave it dry and itchy.

before you blame the chocolate 🍫💔 the acne & food conversation is more nuanced than that

there are a few nutrition patterns that may play a role in acne in some people, including high glycemic diets, whey protein + possibly dairy. but this does NOT mean you need to start cutting out entire food groups to get clear skin!!

save this one for your next grocery run 🛒
