𝖫𝗂𝗇𝗄 𝗂𝗇 𝖻𝗂𝗈 𝗍𝗈 𝗅𝗂𝗌𝗍𝖾𝗇 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝗉𝗎𝗋𝖼𝗁𝖺𝗌𝖾 𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝗉𝗁𝗒𝗌𝗂𝖼𝖺𝗅 (𝗏𝗂𝗇𝗒𝗅 + 𝗈𝖻𝗂 + 𝗂𝗇𝖼𝖾𝗇𝗌𝖾) 𝖺𝗇𝖽/𝗈𝗋 𝖽𝗂𝗀𝗂𝗍𝖺𝗅 𝖿𝗈𝗋𝗆.

Blooming from a shared interest in thinking&feeling what surrounds us — both visible and invisible — and the ways we relate to it, Fronte Violeta is the fruit of good friendships (old and new), encounters with places, animals, forests, waters, lands, and skies, and countless trails walked and flights taken together.

Bringing together our — Anelena Toku and Carla Boregas — individual journeys in the sonic, visual and olfactory fields, this album and incense reflect 10 years of imagining&dreaming together. Along the way and over time, we’ve deepened bonds, created spaces, and developed works in shape-shifting formats: sound pieces, installations, videos, images, and performances.

Fronte Violeta is a beautiful, small, fast hummingbird with a shimmering violet-colored head. It lives in and on the edges of dense forests, hovering in the air as it feeds on flower nectar.

Today, it’s with great joy that we share this other materialization of Fronte Violeta — in sound and scent, vinyl and incense — to breathe beyond us, to sprout new shoots and cultivate new growth.

• CLARÃO - site-specific installation at @foodculturedays

Where the mouth of the Veveyse River meets Lake Léman, lying down upon the stones, the body surrenders to the ground; the head rests between two vessels. On the shore, everything comes together.

The surroundings change every day: rain, wind, people, animals, sun, machines, the movements of the water. Each day, different tones. The fog caused by the fires in Canada hid the Swiss Alps.

The vessels are covered with a paste made of black charcoal mixed with a perfume: ambergris, damask rose and frankincense. The scent dances with the sun and the wind fluctuating between volcanic, humid, powdered and earthy. Between one deep breath and another, one perceives the aroma-presence.

From within the vessels, sine waves unfurl into each ear, meeting and mismatching with the surrounding sounds – a spontaneous and continuous composition. It is unclear whether the source lies inside or out; all sounds amalgamate and amplify the act of becoming still – silence. Yet here, silence is not the absence of sound, but the fullness of presence.

Gradually, the body, the world equalize.

• In June, at the @foodculturedays biennale, we premiered a performance and a site-specific installation. Shapeshifting between collective and individual experiences, the two new pieces choreographed the senses, attuning the relationship with the surroundings.

FRONTE VIOLETA
multisensory performance

The performance marked the live debut of Fronte Violeta, our latest album released on Other People @0p__0__ . Blending vinyl, gong, and electronics into a dubbed version, Carla Boregas shaped the soundscape while Anelena unfurled a scentscape of crafted incense – charcoal, cinnamon, breu and rosemary – and resin – local fir – immersing the audience in a temporary sensory zone.

For this performance, artist Götz Bargende – illegal gelato™️ – conceived two gelato flavors : Annatto (urucum in Brazil, achiote in other parts of Latin America) with coriander, velvety fresh and intensely yellow and Amazake, slightly sweet, ethereal and green, made from fermented rice with local herbs.
