Some differences I’ve noticed amongst white conservationists and indigenous ones are the ways in which we speak about each other and our duty to this world.

One centers the self as “savior” the only one good being amongst an all encompassing evil. The one with whom must sacrifice themselves because humanity is hopeless and doomed to fail otherwise.

The other centers reciprocity and collectivism. A way of life, a relationship to the land you stand on and to this world, an understanding that as you and your community take care of something, it in turn takes care of you and your community.

Trillions are poured into so many campaigns and advertisements to convince humanity that we are separate from this world, they’ve convinced us that we are doomed - have you fallen for it? Do you think humanity as a whole is a virus that can’t be contained instead of the actual root cause; corporate greed. It’s okay if you have, a lot of money was put towards convincing you of it so that blame can be moved to you rather than the few.

I never considered that the most challenging part of being in the field I am in would be convincing others that humans are in fact part of this world, and we are the only solution to the problems that corporate greed causes us. by @fruit.pit

You know that feeling? The one where you lay backwards on a swing and you get that surge of electricity shoot through you to your fingertips. When you come back upright your head is all tingly and you’re swinging higher and higher. I want my life to feel like that. I want to live my life with so much joy that I get that feeling all over. Even when things are hard I’ll lay back and be filled with so much love and electricity that I can’t help but smile and laugh and I’ll just keep swinging.
