Swipe for live performance of We Need Change 🗣️🎶

A few special moments from our unforgettable visit to the House of Lords for the Young Lives, Young Futures parliamentary reception.

🌟 An unforgettable day at the House of Lords! 🌟

Yesterday, we had the honour of joining a Parliamentary reception at the House of Lords with our young community as part of the Young Lives, Young Futures (YLYF) project.

Through our Genesis Sun and Journey to Justice partnership, our young researchers—contributors to the six-year study led by King’s College London and the Edge Foundation—shared their voices in parliament. The event, led by Professor Sharon Gewirtz and Rana Khazbak, brought together policymakers, educators and advocates to discuss the study’s findings.

🎶 Coinciding with the event, our group Young Lives United (Isaac, Maureena, Jemima & Damaris) released “We Need Change,” a powerful song expressing young people’s hopes for a fairer education system. They performed it live at the reception to an inspired and enthusiastic audience.

It was a proud moment to stand alongside our young community, partners, and friends from Genesis Sun, Journey to Justice, CareerSpace, and beyond. Huge thanks to Martin for organising a cultural tour afterwards—ending the day perfectly.

💫 We’re so grateful to Young Lives, Young Futures for their support and belief in our work. This day truly celebrated collaboration, creativity and youth empowerment.

We Need Change Out November 12th! 🙌🏾🗣️

This song is really special to me — it was born out of the @youngliveyoungfutures project delivered by @kingscollegelondon and @Edgefoundation.

Me ,@damarissappor, Jemima Faulkner & @xmausic all came together to record this track @beatsabar shortly after a workshop in April 🎶

The workshops focused on the education system and the experiences of young people with aspirations outside of higher education. 📚

We came together to share our stories, our frustrations, and our ideas for how things could be improved.

Massive thanks to @Genesissun, @journeytojustice for hosting the workshops and for all parties believing in this track from the start. 🙏🏾

And of course, big love to @kmdbrumtown for mixing and mastering this one — you’ve outdone yourself again bro 👊🏾💙

Truly grateful to everyone involved. 🫶🏾
