Last few days to see the extraordinary works of 18 third-year VCA students in the 2026 Majlis Travelling Fellowship. A travelling scholarship of $15,000 is awarded to the winning student, allowing them to travel overseas at the conclusion of their undergraduate studies. Congratulations to all the finalists and to Kendrick Yi Guo Goy @kendrickmadethis from the Sculpture department, to whom the fellowship was awarded. 💐

We are proud to be showing ‘Country to Cloth: Screen printed fabrics from Injalak Arts’.

@injalakarts has been a centre for art, craft and community since opening in 1989. Featuring the work of emerging, mid-career and senior artists, ‘Country to Cloth’ brings together a selection of their most striking designs from across their 35-year history.

Based in Gunbalanya, an Aboriginal community of 1200 in West Arnhem Land at the top of the Northern Territory, the studio is 300km east of Darwin and less than an hour from Kakadu.

In Kunwinjku, the language of the artists, Injalak means shelter.
Injalak Arts prides themselves on creating a safe place for culture, creativity and knowledge to bloom within their community.

You can visit ‘Country to Cloth’ Tuesday to Saturday, 12-5pm.
This exhibition is open until 20th June 2026.

This is the final week of wani toaishara’s 𝐸𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎𝒹𝒶𝓎 𝑅𝒶𝓅𝓉𝓊𝓇𝑒𝓈 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝑅𝑒𝓅𝒶𝒾𝓇𝓈 at the Fiona and Sidney Myer Gallery.

𝐸𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎𝒹𝒶𝓎 𝑅𝒶𝓅𝓉𝓊𝓇𝑒𝓈 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝑅𝑒𝓅𝒶𝒾𝓇𝓈 presents new body of work by wani toaishara who explores care, survival and the everyday as a site of rapture.

Welcome back! Our first exhibition of the year 𝑶𝒃𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 opens Thursday 5 March at 5-7pm 📯

The works of Moorina Bonini, Julia Ciccarone, Tessa Mackay, Anu Kumar and Khandakar Ohida are potent reminders that objects are neither inert nor benign. By foregrounding the imaginative act, objects can be understood as sites of transformation which offer opportunity for reframing inherited stories.

𝕄𝕒𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕚𝕤 𝕄𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 featuring works by Darcey Bella Arnold and Janina Green opens this Friday 5 September 🍊

Darcey Bella Arnold works between painting, sculpture and drawing in a research-based practice that anatomises language to annotate its necessity and fallibility. Arnold deploys strategies of metaphor, recollection, double entendre, repetition and humour to examine familiar histories, obfuscate conventional symbolism and re-examine cultural touchstones. Individual works often correspond both spatially and conceptually, drawing viewers into installation driven environments. Kinship and familiarity punctuate an inventive pictorial world that is constructed through liberal samplings from art history, contemporary politics, personal archives and popular culture. Exploring the verbiage of institutional pedagogies through a decisively subversive approach, Arnold relieves and relates familial experience to cultural production.

𝕄𝕒𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕚𝕤 𝕄𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 featuring works by Janina Green and Darcey Bella Arnold opens this Friday 5 September🪑

Janina Green has established an extensive photographic practice over 30 years, making observations about domesticity, motherhood, reading, teaching, sexual politics, theory and psychology. Born in Germany and migrating to Gippsland, Victoria, in 1949, she spent her childhood in the small country town of Yallourn North. Her early years spent in this rural-industrial setting greatly influenced the artist’s understanding of identity as a fluid and dynamic concept, which is powerfully conveyed in her work. Recent years have seen Green cutting and layering photographs and images from her archive, as well as creating new images.

The Majlis Travelling Fellowship is open to third (final) year VCA Art students at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music. A travelling scholarship of $15,000 is awarded to the winning student that will allow them to travel overseas at the conclusion of their undergraduate studies. This keenly anticipated exhibition, which provides a snapshot of student activity within VCA Art, presents the works of all shortlisted students. The fellowship was awarded to Jess Chow @jesschowwwww from the Painting department 🏆
