I am so excited to announce on World Collage Day that my collage "Bess, you is my woman" was selected to be included in The Kanyer Art Collection having entered the Open Call Purchase Award titled “Finding Your Song”.

The call asked artists all over the world to use an Exercise-Experience from Collage Care: The Method Book Two by Laurie Kanyer. The book is being released today in honour of World Collage Day.

Congratulations dear Laurie!!

The Kanyer Art Collection is one of very few private collections focusing exclusively on collage.

The "Finding your song" Excercise Experience brought me on such a fun journey (see earlier post), playing music from different times, brought memories flooding back..

Thank you so much Laurie and Doug and the Kanyer Art Collection, I am humbled.

Happy World Collage Day everyone..

Bess

“It is the nature of the world that all things seek rhythm, and in rhythm a sort of peace.” - Robin Hobbs

An element of a Collage Care: The Method™️ (CCTM) Exercise-Experience (EE) is the use of “quotes”.

A quote from a sage can be found at the beginning and ending of each Exercise-Experience (EE) (see images above).

Using quotes is a form of an opening and closing meditation, prayer, or invitation.

Quotes signal this is a “special time” to explore concepts of importance.

Each quote focuses on the subject of the EE. They serve to signal one to think about novel “ideas”.

The quotes offer a predictable start and end spot to increase comfort and add predictable familiarity.

Quotes shows others have been “thinking, wondering, and pondering” on this topic for a LONG time.

Quotes show the reader someone, maybe from eons ago, have “contemplated” or even “wrestled” with the same themes.

The starting and ending with a quote in each EE signal to the reader (or the group participants) that they are in fact NOT alone in their musings! Humans can sometimes feel pangs of isolation and separation from others. Reading a quote aims to unite people across time and space.

Quotes also signal that there are varied perspectives on the topic. A reader might embrace or bristle at some of the quotes.

The quotes can illustrate how the topic is both “complex” and “simple”. What follows the beginning quote is a brief newspaper-column-length discussion on the topic showing more depth and complexity. Here one explore the topics deeper.

Today, as years past, facilitators all over the world start and end a CCTM group with a quote. Readers today can facilitate their own “self-guided learning” too by starting and ending with the quote “bookends”.

Many of quotes are adopted as personal mottos by readers reinforcing wise sage-like awarenesses.

Each time one takes part an EE know you can count on entering the experience and end with a quote.
