What is MGT (Micro Group Training)?

It’s 60-minutes of strategic, individualized, total body strength/stability/ mobility training in groups of no more than eight, under the careful guidance of an FE coach.

A crappy fitness class? This isn’t it. Each session is carefully crafted by our design department, and we purposely limit the class size to a maximum of 10 to ensure individualized instruction and guidance by your Functional Elements coach.

To create the best possible body transformation that is sustainable, we’ve found that a combination of strength training & metabolic conditioning is the fastest way to create results. Our model combines different sessions throughout the week, each with a different total body focus.

And because all new clients onboard with our 14-day 360°, we’ll know you inside and out from the start. That means instant and ongoing adaptations to your workout based on YOU, YOUR body and YOUR goals.

🚨 Pro Tip 🚨 @jreed8989 doing work with the Landmine 🔥

🔹 Landmine Front Squat: Building quad and glute strength while reinforcing an upright torso position. The landmine setup offers a little more stability, allowing us to focus on producing force through the lower body.

🔹 Landmine Meadows Row: Developing upper-back and lat strength one side at a time. Unilateral training helps us identify and address strength imbalances while building a stronger, more balanced back.

Different movements. Different challenges. Same goal: building strength that carries over into everyday life.

How Accurate Is an InBody Scan?

What your body composition results can — and can't — tell you about your progress.

Here at Functional Elements, we love data.

It helps keep us accountable, measure progress and sometimes tell us when something isn't working.

But there's something important we've learned from doing reassessments with clients over the years:

No single measurement tells the whole story.

That's especially true with body composition testing.

At Functional Elements, we use InBody scans to help clients better understand their bodies and track changes in muscle and body fat over time. But one question comes up often:

How accurate is an InBody scan, really?

The short answer: An InBody scan can be a very useful tool for estimating body composition and tracking progress over time, but no single scan should be treated as an absolute measurement of your muscle or body fat.

The real value comes from understanding the numbers — and watching how they trend over time.

What Does an InBody Scan Actually Measure?

An InBody scan uses a technology called bioelectrical impedance analysis, or BIA.
The device sends a very low-level electrical current through the body and measures how that current moves through different tissues. Because water-rich tissues such as muscle conduct electricity differently than fat tissue, InBody uses those measurements to estimate different components of your body composition.

Depending on the model, your results may include:

Skeletal muscle mass: An estimate of the muscle attached to your bones that helps you move, lift and perform everyday activities.

Body fat mass: An estimate of the total amount of fat in your body.

Percent body fat: The estimated percentage of your total body weight that is fat.

Total body water: An estimate of the water contained in your body.

Segmental analysis: Estimates of muscle and fat distribution throughout your arms, legs and trunk.

Visceral fat indicators: Estimates related to fat stored around the abdominal organs.

That's considerably more information than simply knowing what you weigh.

“Discipline is doing what you hate to do, but nonetheless doing it like you love it.” — Mike Tyson

The rower. The skier. The bike. 😅

We all have our favorites… and then there are the ones we’d rather skip. But sometimes, the things we like the least are the things we need the most. That’s part of training — showing up, embracing the challenge, and putting in the work even when it’s not your favorite.

Alright, FE family, let’s hear it! 👇

Rank them from MOST favorite to LEAST favorite:

🚣 Rower
🎿 SkiErg
🚴 Bike

Drop your ranking in the comments! No judgment… okay, maybe a little. 😂

🚨Pro Tip🚨 from @jreed8989

The Barbell Zercher Bulgarian Squat 💪

This movement packs a lot of benefits into one exercise!

🔥 Lower-Body Strength: Targets the glutes, quads, and hamstrings to build strength where it matters.

🔥 Core Stability: The front-loaded barbell challenges the abs, obliques, and spinal stabilizers to keep your torso strong and controlled.

🔥 Hip Mobility & Balance: Builds unilateral strength while improving hip control, balance, and coordination.

At FE, we love exercises that do more than just build muscle. We want to improve how you move, perform, and feel in everyday life. From athletic performance to functional movement and even sexual health, strength, stability, and mobility all play a role.

One of the many multi-functional movements we use in MGT. 💪

DB Floor Press + 1-Legged Bridge Hold

The floor press targets the chest and triceps, while the 1-legged bridge hold adds a lower-body and stability challenge. As you press, your glutes and core work to stabilize your hips, your shoulders help maintain control, and your upper and lower body coordinate to move as one.

🍑 Glutes + core stabilizing the hips
💪 Shoulders working to maintain stability
🧠 Coordination between the upper and lower body
🔥 Midsection staying locked in throughout

That’s what we mean by getting more out of every movement—training multiple muscle groups and qualities at the same time.

Killing two (or multiple) birds with one stone.

✨Client Highlight✨…Shannon

Over the last couple of months, Shannon has been dealing with back pain. But she didn’t let that stop her from staying active.

Instead, she worked around it, modified when needed, and continued training to make the most of the situation. And the data showed it in her latest reassessment .

⬆️ 5 lbs of skeletal muscle mass 💪
⬇️ 1.5 lbs of body fat mass 💥

That’s what we’re all about at FE — finding a way to keep moving forward, even when things don’t go exactly as planned.

Proud of you, Shannon! 👏

Good training doesn’t end when you leave FE.

Today, Nick came in to learn how to properly execute his home program so he can continue working toward his goals between training sessions.

These sessions are about more than just giving someone exercises. We’re teaching why, how, and when to use them—so clients can train confidently and effectively on their own.

The work between sessions matters. Consistency is where progress happens.

⬇️ 2 lbs of total weight 🔥
⬆️ 2.5 lbs of skeletal muscle mass 💪
⬇️ 3% percent body fat percentage 👊
⬇️ 5 lbs of body fat mass 🤯

Wow 🤩. I’d say Ann is doing quite well on meeting those goals! Keep it up 🙌 we know you will 💥
