🚨 WE DID IT. THIS IS THE NEWS WE HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR. 🚨

Today, the Government announced a £10 million funding package to create jobs for 1,000 newly qualified midwives across England.

For too long, student midwives have graduated into uncertainty, despite maternity services desperately needing more midwives. We’ve heard the heartbreak, the frustration, and the fear from those who worked tirelessly to earn their qualification only to face the possibility of unemployment.

Today, that changes.

This announcement is a huge victory for every student midwife who shared their story, every supporter who signed a petition, every person who wrote to their MP, and everyone who refused to accept that this was “just the way it is.”

We are incredibly proud that Fund Future Midwives UK was recognised in this announcement for our campaigning. This is proof that when we come together with one voice, we can create real change.

1,000 funded jobs.
£10 million invested.
Lives changed.

This is a monumental step forward—but our work isn’t finished. We will continue fighting until every newly qualified midwife has access to a funded job and every family receives the safe maternity care they deserve.

To every single person who has supported this campaign:
Thank you.
This victory belongs to all of us. 💜

UNITED, STUDENT MIDWIVES WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED. by @fundfuturemidwivesuk

Chloe recently qualified, gaining a newly qualified position as a midwife in the NHS.
But this won’t stop her fighting for the qualified yet unemployed brilliant final year student midwives, the current student midwives and for the families that DESERVE our care.

We are not asking for a handout.
We want to do the job we have spent years training to do.
We are the future maternity workforce.
We deserve to be invested in. by @fundfuturemidwivesuk

Continuity of care isn’t just a policy. It’s the heart of midwifery.

It’s about women being cared for by someone who knows their story, understands their fears, celebrates their milestones, and is there through one of the most important times in their life.

The evidence shows continuity improves outcomes for women and babies, but beyond the statistics, it helps women feel safe, heard and truly seen.

As student midwives, this is the kind of care we’re training to provide. Yet many of us are qualifying into a profession where there are limited opportunities to begin our careers due to recruitment freezes and funding pressures.

If we want continuity of care to become a reality for every woman, we need to invest in the future midwifery workforce.

Every woman deserves to be known.
Every future midwife deserves the chance to make that happen. 💜 by @fundfuturemidwivesuk
