15 days agoI would love an update now that they are talking about closing yet more units flllowing Barnstaple- how is it safe for women to have to travel even further when in labour?
5 months agoWhile I agree with the protest as standards midwifery have reduced so much in the last couple of decades. I feel that if as a collective we worked to rule (did not work through breaks, went home on time, did not do NHSP but worked our contracted hours, decline to do on calls which are not safe when we have worked our contracted hours that day) we will get more respect and appreciation from the government. There have been countless protests and petitions over the last two decades that have got us no where. We need to look at being stronger and more collective as a cohort of professionals supporting families. Whilst this may not sit well with many people I believe that we are not helping our cause by constantly giving ‘free’ labour to a system that does not support us
6 months agoWhatever this labour government says they mean the opposite. With absolutely everything not just this. The sooner they're gone the better let's just hope there's someone in some party that has a little bit of intelligence to sort it out not just midwifery but the NHS in
6 months agoAnd then they blame midwives for poor care, and pay for yet another inquiry. Pay for more midwives instead so we can deliver safer care.
6 months agoIt's happening everywhere then. In Spain, midwives qualify and end Up working as nurses. Meanwhile, women labouring alone in hospitals, miscarriaging in the rooms alone, etc

6 months agoWhat a laugh. They've confirmed what we believe....THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHATS GOING ON
6 months agoHaha the misalignment is that the older midwives all retired and they didn’t train enough new ones to replace them
6 months agoHow do I stand with you when I cannot better in person? (I live in Wales) desperate to support this
