The snow came, whether we were ready or not! ❄️🇨🇦

And that’s a reminder about money too.

Life doesn’t always give us advance notice before unexpected expenses show up.

A car repair. A job loss. An urgent family expense.

That’s why building an emergency fund matters, even if you can only start with a small amount.

You don’t have to build it overnight. Start with what you can, stay consistent, and build gradually.

The best time to prepare for a financial storm is before it arrives.

What’s one financial habit you’re working on before the year ends?

A good salary doesn’t automatically build wealth. 🇨🇦

Making more money is powerful but if every increase in income becomes a bigger car payment, more subscriptions, more shopping and a more expensive lifestyle, your wealth may never catch up with your income.

If every raise becomes a lifestyle upgrade, you can earn more money and still wonder where it all went.

That’s lifestyle inflation.

When your income increases, decide in advance where some of that extra money will go:

Save more.
Invest more.
Pay down high-interest debt.
Grow your emergency fund.
Increase your TFSA or RRSP contributions.
And yes, enjoy some of it too. ❤️

The goal isn’t to stop enjoying your money. It’s to make sure your net worth grows alongside your income.

Because earning more and building wealth are not the same thing.

A lot of people are saving towards retirement without knowing the math.

Knowing your retirement number helps you stop guessing and start working towards an actual goal.

The 25x Rule:
Annual spending × 25 = Your target
Examples:
→ Need $40K/year? You need $1M
→ Need $50K/year? You need $1.25M
→ Need $70K/year? You need $1.75M
If that number feels impossible - you’re not alone. And you’re not too late.

There’s a strategy to hit your retirement number without breaking the bank.

But at 40 + we can’t waste time. Every year you wait costs you.

Listen - the gap between where you are and where you need to be? It’s real. But there’s a way to close it.
