Master 1 Lightweight Brown Belt Atlanta Open Champion. Had to make a couple of mental adjustments this tournament with lower body submissions now in play. Both of my opponents were classy tough competitors. It was also nice taking gold with my main man @moranguinhobjj @josephmgilpin We’ve got one more up for gold. Overall a good day for @yamasakiacademy Onto the open!! taken in The GICC - Georgia Int'l Convention Center by @furiousformiga

Easily one of the most impressive things I’ve seen from a grappler recently.

@furiousformiga absolutely DECIMATED his max-out last Friday.

After over 2 years of working with us through our subscription programs, we’ve officially shifted him into a fully custom plan as we gear up for Worlds.

The progress this man has made has been insane. From the massive size gains to the monster lifts, he has completely transformed himself into a different athlete.

And the standout:

455 LB ZERCHER SQUAT
AT 175 LBS BODYWEIGHT.

That’s over 2.5x bodyweight on a Zercher squat.

Absolute savage. Now we dial everything in for Worlds.

Took two close L’s back-to-back this weekend, where I needed a pass to win in gi and no-gi. Going to continue putting in the work and effort in because I know the best in yet to come. I appreciate both my opponents giving me good scraps this weekend. To see the rainbows you have to be willing to go through the storm first. Rough day in the office, but not from a lack of trying or effort. We continue moving, no excuses and no sad stories. Drove 4.5 hrs for a scrap and I would do it again. 😂😂😂 Thanks for my teammates and crew for always keeping me humble and honest. Onward 🫡🫡🫡 @yamasakiacademy taken in Hofstra University David S. Still developing that clutch gene. Ain’t there yet. 1 sub 1 loss on the day. At least my game is becoming more well-rounded. Just gotta sharpen my mindset and continue forging my mind, body, spirit and technique. Thank you, thank you much for everyone that supports me and makes me a better person on and off the mat. Without you I wouldn’t be here. Time for some well-earned rest and recovery now. 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 taken in Las Vegas Convention Center by @furiousformiga

I was on crashout watch ngl. Finally got my first tournament 🥇 at blackbelt after getting subbed yesterday in the Gi. Feels relieving getting the nerves off my back. Shout out to all my training partners and homies this one is for you and me. Going to continue to stay focused, humble and poised. I appreciate my opponent for showing up and giving me a good scrap 🫡🫡. Onto the next one @yamasakiacademy taken in Meadowlands Exposition Center by @furiousformiga

No one in my bracket signed up so I signed up for the open class and lost a referee’s decision to a super-heavyweight. Lost the day before by points in the Gi as well. Not the kind of hollow victory I want to post but here we are. Have to face yourself at the end of the day and post the good, bad and in-between. Still chasing for victory at the black belt level, still looking to curb this feeling of “Imposter Syndrome,” to the curbside. It will happen because I’m continuing to strive to make it a reality. Thankful for my team @yamasakiacademy S&C @asim_nvbc and a special shout out to @kamrannahidi couldn’t do lunges for weeks without significant pain but now we’re closer to 💯 taken in Fredericksburg Convention Center by @furiousformiga

Sometimes it just doesn’t always go as planned. Lost by two in the gi yesterday and got DQ’d for the first time ever in IBJJF competition (no-gi) for a modified cloverleaf position. I’m gonna consult a few more individuals for justification about the illegal position and come back stronger. Not my best performance this weekend/year but I have no excuses. The road continues. Thank you to all my teammates/coaches that continue to support me. My apologies for the performance we’ll get that podium soon. taken in Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center by @furiousformiga

Another competition another undesirable outcome, all good. We’ll be back. Going to continue building.

This past Saturday on 11/09/2024, I had the biggest surprise I was not expecting, receiving my BJJ Black Belt. I literally told @fyamasaki1 that I had some “unfinished business,” after not getting on the podium at World Masters this year and I felt more determined than ever after a pretty decent performance. I had planned on posting more pictures but everyone jumped at the chance to spar with me soon after the promotion ceremony was over 😂😂😂. So instead I picked some pictures over the years of some moments in my life w/BJJ. Enjoy.

At the end of the day everything in my life to this point can just be summarized with one word, gratitude.

Thanks to the big man in the sky. My family, my partner @endentulous

My friend and my brother @sprawldontlie for introducing me to Yamasaki Academy @yamasakiacademy back in my college days at an in-house tournament, I took my first steps at BJJ and never looked back.

My teammates and training partners from all over the DMV too many to list out, (seriously it’s a f*#^ lot of people 😅) you know who you are. It’s still taking a lot of time to process this but after another 24-48 hrs (maaaaaybe a week). It’s back to work again to set and accomplish new goals one day at a time. @filipevbjj Like you always say man, “There’s only one way.” by @furiousformiga
