That’s the kind of work our new Startups Manager will do every day. We’re looking for a facilitator, mentor and connector to work closely with idea- and early-stage founders ages 18–30 through Future Founders programs in Chicago and across the country.

For Vintonio Lowery, entrepreneurship became a way to turn years of hands-on experience into something of his own.

As a finalist in the Future Founders Apprenticeship Pitch Day powered by the Chicago Housing Authority, he presented Venirarcs Mobile Welding, a business focused on helping customers avoid costly delays by bringing welding services directly to them. The idea combines his background in trades, demolition, and fabrication with a commitment to being a dependable resource for people across Chicago.

While building the business, Vintonio discovered that one of the most valuable parts of the Apprenticeship was being surrounded by entrepreneurs who challenged him to think bigger. Through mentorship, feedback, and a community of peers with similar ambitions, he developed a new perspective on what it takes to build a successful business.

One of the most rewarding parts of our work is watching confidence grow.

It starts quietly. A participant who hesitates to raise their hand begins asking thoughtful questions. Someone who was nervous to speak stands up and shares their idea with conviction. A young entrepreneur who once doubted themselves volunteers to lead the discussion.

We're hiring a new Startups Manager to help support the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The Startups Manager will report to our amazing Chris Van Etten (Head of Platform Strategy) and work directly with idea- and early-stage founders ages 18–30 in Chicago and across the country. The Manager will lead our Apprenticeship program and support our Startup Bootcamp program, which includes recruiting participants, program design and evaluation, leading content-based workshops, and conducting one-on-one mentoring sessions with our founders.

We’re looking for someone who has:
✅ direct experience coaching entrepreneurs and/or starting their own business
✅ strong community ties and a network within Chicago
✅ a passion and knowledge of the startup ecosystem
✅ a drive to help young entrepreneurs turn ideas into action
