October is a great time to get hopeful for the future!

First up, @laundromat_proj is thrilled to present a multi-site activation across Bed-Stuy’s Fulton Street–Liberation Series: Pop-Up! From the hair braiding shops to the bakeries and even the laundromats, we know that it’s in our communities’ hyperlocal small businesses that culture happens, and community gathers. Curated by @mz.icar.

On October 10th, @theyoungartistprogram is throwing A FREE community event filled with fun, activities, nature and more! 🧘🏽‍♀️⚽️🥪🥤🎶

Four events in September to get hopeful for the future!

First up, @poetryblerdsandjams is throwing the first every spoken word comic-con right here in Germantown on September 12. Come out to celebrate Black imagination—and stay for a special Olamina circle to take into you in the future!

On Sunday the 13th, @caribbeancommunityinphilly invites you to an art exhibit and workshop exploring the pathways to immigration through the ages. Bringing artifacts of your own immigrant story to connect our past and future together.

Speaking of the future, @indyhall is turning 20 this month, and hosting talks every week on how to best take care of ourselves, our space, and each other. Dain will be rounding out the month with a talk on how to best take care of our future on September 25th.

Finally, for @fringearts, @obviousagency is putting on the first-bumping, adrenaline-pumping SPORTS!, an interactive celebration of queer community, athleticism, and jockery created by our very own @kitcatilac. One night only on Saturday, September 26th.

We're growing the circle: come to the future with us! 🎲🪘🔮

We're bringing our communal game Olamina to Brooklyn on October 2nd, 2026, and we're looking for acoustic musicians — drum, hand percussion, guitar, strings, whatever — to help us bring our circle into the future.

Priority given to queer and BIPOC performers, especially from the Caribbean diaspora.

Futurelessness is what happens when you stop believing tomorrow exists.

We all have a limit to the amount of bullshit going on the world before all we can see is the injustice. But being blind to beauty isn't the antidote. Whimsy, joy, and imagination are crucial tools for us to fight fascism—by writing our own story, we rob theirs of power.

“A roll of the dice can change your life!” 🎲🎲🎲

@morgantailored got a chance to come through July’s Olamina circle. Now it’s your turn! Come see what she’s talking about at our final Olamina circle of the summer this Saturday, August 15 at @black.bird_rising

Olamina is our flagship interactive game where players take on the role of the ancestors of a future we build together. Through song and dice, we tell the story of our descendant Olamina, and guide her through a day in her life. Whether you have big theatre kid energy, or just want to an excuse to play make believe, this is the spot to be.

Link in bio; tickets are pay what you can thanks to a generous contribution from @caribbeancommunityinphilly. Hope to see you there! by @futurefullstories

Had to do another poster! 🦸🏾‍♂️

Still beaming from this masssive win with @bicgrant. Ive been applying for grants for Olamina for over two years now to no avail; this is the first grant application that won.

It can be hard to stay positive through that process. But Olamina is always positive; every person that gets a chance to experience the circle walks away with a real sense of change, possibility, and optimism for the future. *I* believe in this project with all my heart, and I know with this win support is only going to grow.

Much love to everyone who has helped with my applications, listened to me vent, offered words of encouragement, and kept my head pointed to the clouds. And deepest love to the whole @futurefullstories family — we have so much dope shit planned for y’all! Time to take flight.

(We’re running our last Olamina circle of the summer this Saturday Aug 15 if you want to see what all the fuss is about 😉) by @futurefullstories

Consider this permission to let your inner weird theatre kid run free!

Olamina is a communal storytelling game inspired by traditional Jamaican storytelling, the playful combat of Capoeira, and TTRPGS like Dungeons & Dragons. You'll play as ancestors to a young girl, Olamina, living hundreds of years in our future, and narrate her journey through ritual, song, and dice. It's a time-travel ritual that reminds us we're the authors of our own futures. Hope to see you there August 15!

The world has never once ended in the history of the world.

When we say the world is ending, it does two things: it absolves us of responsibilty to the past, and it robs us of our authorship of the future. It's way easier to imagine building a better world if you can start from a "blank slate"; it's a lot harder to grow it piece by piece from the place we're starting.

But we stand here as survivors of countless wars, annihilations, and apocalypses. Maybe these systems are ending. Maybe our assumptions of what is possible need to end. But the world goes on, and so do we: with joy, whimsy, and defiance. by @futurefullstories
